The long regular battery last about 3.5 hrs depending on power consumption of the application you run. Most of the time i use the slice or extended battery with it.

You remove the battery and use the extended battery, I don't get

The extended battery can be attached to the base of the laptop through the docking connector. So the system can use 2 batteries at a time. It can also use 4 storage(RAID) at a time.
