RichBoy247:Igbos are good people, Nigeria govt pushed them to the wall with hunger, so in a quest to make money and overcome hunger led to that. |

RichBoy247:These problems don't seem to be technical problems or technological problems but social problems. |

SchmidtHammer:What the hell are you talking about? Who told you Hitler thought rocket technology was a waste? A beg, talk about things you know. My post was not about rocket per se. I was merely pointing out the foolishness of the guy who thought Biafra would have surpassed the U.S. |

Guestlander:You don't strike me as one with much knowledge on this matter either. The problems faced by long range missiles at the time were numerous, from accuracy to weather to other challenges. Hitler knew the advantages such missiles gave to his army in wars but didn't believe sending rockets to the moon was significant to his dominance or even possible at all, that's what Wernher Von Braun thought, you know who he is? |

SchmidtHammer:What long range missiles? Rocket technology was at the rudimentary stage at that time but the Nazi's knew the military importance and they were working to improve and weaponize it. You are funny for asking if I knew who Von Braun was. |

chernest2002:I mentioned it because some people think that when you say anything good about ndigbo you must be one. |

Guestlander:As much as I do not intend to derail the thread, You are wrong again! The V-2 was developed and deployed, thousands of it. The V-2 is the first rocket to ever 'peek' into space. Infact, numerous bombings were carried out in London with that same rocket. This bombings were some of the accusations that haunted Von Braun to his grave and even after his death, with the popular line "...I aim for the stars but end up hitting London" used to ridicule his claims of only developing rockets for space use. The V-2 became the base upon which more advanced rocket models were built. The Soviet Union, America and even Britain started ambitious space projects that Hitler never bothered about. Hitler knew enough about these rockets but doubted how far they could actually go just like your statement about the first Surface-to-air missile developed in Africa assumes. I'm not saying the technology was the most advanced at the time or it was anything extraordinary, I'm only saying that for a mere contraption that was assembled with improvised parts and achieve the smallest possible results, it seemed promising. P.S America's attempt before 'operation paper clip' with all the engineers, scientist, knowledge and resources at their disposal couldn't even produce something as practical and usable as what there was here that was only produced by poor, illiterate, hungry but desperate and determined men could come up with. Arabian countries that can boast of producing rockets presently, had to send their men to acquire knowledge for that purpose. Like I said earlier, CREATIVITY makes technology usable, SCIENCE only makes it more reliable. |

Guestlander:I was actually talking about space (exploration) technology not rocket technology |

You guys have a condition known as Parataxic distortion. It is a psychiatric term first used to describe the inclination to skew perceptions of others based on fantasy. This is to give yourselves a false sense of importance. Stingman:You obviously have no idea what invent and technology means. 1. Uli Airstrip: Although Igbos were cut-off from the rest of the world during the civil war, their ingenuity came to the fore as they constructed the Uli airstrip and when that airstrip was bombed, they repaired it in record time and under the most trying circumstances. They would go on to repair Uli not once and not twice using Igbo technology. So an airstrip is now an a technological invention or innovation. An strip is simply a strip of land that an airplane can land on. It could be a wide tarred road or simply a grass clearing in a bush See the great gbotechnological feat below; Relief flights landed at Uli, codenamed "Airstrip Annabelle", the only operational "airport" in Biafra. At the height of the airlift it became the second busiest airport in Africa after Johannesburg.[21] The bush landing strip was a widened road and had no instruments or navigation gear 2. Fuel from palm fruit: The Igbos refined petrol from a variety of non-fossil fuels, including from but not limited to palm products (from which they also produced diesel). So biodiesel is now a great Igbo technological invention. Una no go kill person with laughter. Ordinary vegitable oil can even run diesel engines without any modification to its engine. See more here - https://www.streetdirectory.com/travel_guide/54078/mileage_and_fuel/vegetable_oil_as_substitute_for_diesel.html 3. War Missiles (Ogbunigwe): Using the same Igbo technology, my fellow countryman – Gordian Ezekwe – manufactured surface to air missiles which Igbos also adapted to surface to surface missiles.I will not discuss much about this Ogbunigwe, because I know you guys have invested so much emotion, pride and ego on it. Any debunking of your fantasy will only elicit a strong emotional response. If you tell me that the Biafrans are masters of improvisation, I will agree, but to say the Biafrans "invented" and produced missiles, tanks, guns, aircrafts, armoured personnel carriers and ammunition within a few months of entering a war in Nigeria is unrealistic. Even Hitler used over 5 years to prepare for his war. Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan once said: “In fact, when in 2012, the Nigerian Army rolled out the igirigi and promoted it as the first indigenous armored personnel carrier, they were wrong.I will prefer to say the first indigenous"assembled" personnel carrier. The parts are simply imported and assembled in Nigeria, just like when Peugeot was made in Nigeria. We don't have manufacture steel sheets, we don't manufacture engines and gear system, we don't manufactures tyres. |
