The Bayelsa state government wrote to INEC that the date fixed earlier coincides with the state's thanksgiving anniversary observed since 2012. They appealed to INEC to change the date and INEC acceded to the demand. It has nothing to do with Yahaya Bello or Kogi state

The election was shifted at the request of Balyesa state.

The Balyesa deputy governor led a delegation of stakeholders to inec to request for the shift because the earlier date clash with the State Annual Thanksgiving Day which is backed by law.
