The driver of a retired Commodore in the Nigeria Navy committed a traffic offence and ran away from arrest.

His disappearance temporarily absolved him from punishment. However, his employer wasn’t spared.

The arresting traffic authority, LASTMA, made the owner of the car suffer the consequence.

Commodore Oduyemi (Rtd) was made to do community service as a punitive measure for the offence committed by his diver who had absconded.

The community service required him to deliver a lecture to members of the LASTMA staff.

The lecture title was “Relationship with the Military”.

So be careful of who you give your cars to drive.

LASTMA or any punishing traffic authority might not be this lenient.

I wonder if LASTMA would have had the guts to do this if the man was still in active service.

Anyway, nice one.

Meanwhile, see my signature.

There should be a ban on security officers brandishing military items to show they are officers on their vehicles.

Some will put army face caps on their dashboards, other will put horse whips, and some will brandish military-type belts on their dashboards.

That alone is very intimidating. LASTMA & other paramilitary are scared to sanction the ones still in service when they err on the road

Nice initiative but i think it’s because the man is A retired military personnel that’s why they adopted the community service option if he were just an ordinary civilian he would have to pay in cash

Once a soldier always a soldier bro. Even in america they recognize them, and on their plate number they write it " Us Army Veteran "

This is stupid, there are laws and fines for common traffic violations. Write the man a ticket and move on, unless it was a traffic offense tagged as a felony, there's nothing warranting community service. Once again, another goof by people who should know better!

Don't get it twisted

The LASTMA begged him to use that as an opportunity to lecture them, that's the only way they would have gained access to him, on a normal invitation, they would have to pay....

If he decide not to do it they can't do him anything,
