The auto maintenance team at chi spare parts have been working on a Rolls Royce Phantom for quite a while. The car had problems with its air suspension and will not rise up on starting.

We checked all parts of the air suspension system and everything appeared to be in order except some certain portions of the air lines. We noticed leaks. We repaired the leaks on the airline and we were able to get the rear shock absorbers to rise on starting. The front shocks still will not rise. We hooked up a scan tool to see if they were any error codes stored in the air suspension system but everything appeared to be okay. We looked at the live data readings and we noticed that the Electronic ride height control sensors for the first two shocks were giving negative readings. Negative readings on any system point out that something is being taken away from that system and in this case; air was being taken away.

We inspected the front shocks and noticed they were leaking massively from the top. This was so weird and almost impossible to know except the front of the car is lifted up. We have ordered for new shocks and while we wait, we felt we could share our experiences to others. Air suspensions work on the same principles whether its a Lexus or a BMW, the same principles for diagnosis apply to them all.
