I am a professional day trader, I trade stock for a living before you start trading the first thing to do is o properly educate yourself, because it's very difficult to day trade without proper education. Many of this broker are thieves and you have to know how much dividends are being paid yearly. Sorry to say I trade stock five day a week Monday to Friday that's what i do for a living. Am a day trader and a swing trader. |

dipoolowoo:Nice write-up sir... I started investing in stock market some 10 years ago, and since then i have never made any profits. I have lost over 1 million naira in that 10 Years and I don't know when I will ever recover. It was actually a Long term investment. The companies shares; Zenith bank plc I bought at 38 naira per unit Dangote Sugar at 18 naira United Bank for Africa at 28 naira Fidelity Bank at 6 naira First Bank at 28 naira. Sir, how possible its to recover in the next 5 years...? After 10 Years of investing, I think the future is now. |

I sympathize with you on your loss. I must say you entered into the market when the stock market in Nigeria was overvalued, 2007 to 2009, when the market crashed, even globally. You must have bought these stocks during IPOs, it is one of the school fees I talked about in my write up. Many Nigerians also had the same issue. The market at the moment is at its true value or even undervalued. Like I always tell people, you must keep tab of the market to know when to sell and buy. The simple trick is buy when the market is down and sell when the market is up. Give yourself an entry point and an exit point. Don't be too greedy because it might hurt you badly. Akpan107: |

dipoolowoo:Sir... I have also invested in MTN Nigeria for a long and term and short term investments. I purchased at 135 per units and I am sometimes having a sleepless nights over it especially after it depreciated last weekend. Each minutes I log into my portal, saw my cash dropping, though is begging to rise again. Sir, is MTN Nigeria stock a good investment? How long should i keep it? Thanks as you respond. |

The stock market in information-driven and this is what majorly affects prices of stocks. The appointment of persons, resignation or firing of a top management staff could affect prices. The release of financial statements or the announcement of an investment and many others trigger holders to either buy or sell the company's shares. A good example is MTN Nigeria, which started to fall when there were reports of a probe by the EFCC on their NSE listing. ppogba: |

MTN Nigeria is a good stock no doubt. However, experience has shown that prices of stocks are always overvalued when they are newly listed on the exchange. So, it is always advisable to chill and buy when the dust settles. On the MTN Nigeria shares, it is a good buy, but you must keep tab on the market and quickly sell when you feel the losses may be getting much for you. Like I said in my article, you must know why you are buying a stock. I feel MTN Nigeria shares may still drop below the listing price of N90. Akpan107: |
