The idea of crown prince is very alien to igbo culture. There are usually 3 or 4 ruling families and the council of chiefs pick one candidate out of the ruling families. I wonder where you got the idea of kanu being a crown prince from. Apart from the Benin monarchy, I don't know any other monarch in Nigeria that has a crown prince.
