I agree with you absolutely. Only a wicked man will keep a gateman for 8 years and he is still a gateman. The boss might say he is helping him by providing him shelter and food but may not allow him to marry and have a life so he can continue to man his gate. That is the Nigerian "help" mentality. Gateman, househelp, etc should be like that forever while madam and oga kids are growing and excelling. as a matter of fact, madam will pass her househelp to her daughter and they will never ever look into the life of the househelp that he/she is a human being that should progress from that position.

You are forgetting the fact that you, as Boss has power and authority to make things happen. In some Nigerian homes, houseboy/househelp work all day and don't go to bed until midnight or 1am, they have no choice, they are paid maybe 30K per month and Oga rape them even, Now in the Western world, you cannot try that, there is minimum wage that you cannot BY LAW pay anyone lower than the minimum, also, you must be on break after 4hrs of work, by law. Haven't you heard of cases of Indians and Nigerians mostly from South East and South South that bring househelps to the West and abuse them with work? Now let me drive it home, In Nigeria, Governors are fighting Buhari over the law he pushed in the senate for autonomy of the State Judiciary and the State house of reps. Now, tell the Judiciary to go look for work elsewhere and the legislators as well since they want to advance their lives....

I think the boss has refused to pay the guy his wages for a very long time and has made it a habit to flaunt the money in the guy's face. The Bible says a laborer is worthy of his wages, but a lot of Nigerian employers will not pay their workers regularly and on time, especially the owners of private businesses.
