Lies from irresponsible leaders. Abacha loot alone tells you how wealthy we are as a nation. We are not even talking about IBB loot, Obasanjo loot, Abdulsalam Abubakar, Atiku, Jonathan, all the governors, senators, reps etc The truth is 30k is even too little, a Nigeria that works can pay 150k minimum wage and still be fine. Tell those politicians to stop looting the treasury and they'll find the cash they claim isn't there. |

Aiyk2333:Starts with an insult, the dear lad... are you aware billions were added to the actual 2019 budget to help fund the minimum wage!!! there's nothing u can do in this country that will ever seem perfect..So long as oil prices are too low, and as I said...we need oil to be at 140 dollars per barrel so that we don't have to take loans...but because the oil is at $70 and below...we have to be taking loans..... And many states are still owing salaries. Plus, adding billions does not do much. Sustainability is the issue. 30k is now sounding like 300k to governors, how much do they pay their aides, how much do the legislative arm earn, this ones will never have issues of funding only that which has to do with the masses, it pains the most to see gullible Nigerians like u supporting this rubbish!! or are u wiser than NLCI beleive governors should be earning nothing more than 700000 naira monthly...but even if we cut all their salaries...and we should...it won't do much. Porbably pay the salaries and enomulents of a few dozen workers. The issue is, ultimately....we have to earn more money. And the only way to do it is to become an industrial nation...which involves sacrifices that Nigeria is not ready to make. Good morning . |

Bossontop:Likewise, 2019- #18000=$58.74. Should the government leave it that way? |

tactius:Any governor who can't pay the #30,000 as signed into law should resign immediately. You don't need to raise taxes for such and its complete stupidity to even take loans to pay such. Downsizing the work force is plain wickedness. Most States' Civil Service wage bill is actually false and filled with ghost personaluties. Most of the work force in the civil service are not productive. Let the government/governor ensure they are via the respective Permanent Secretaries and Directors. As far as I'm concerned governance is quite easy as long as its people oriented the right way for the right purpose. If we analyse the total monies being stolen by politicians if they can be realized, it would be enough to pay even more than #50,000 as minimum wage to a working population of 180 million. |

bixton:You did not read the part where I stated that we need oil at $140 per barrel to run a budget that is free of loans and oil is//has bben at $70 and below since 2015. The thing is , we cann....okay, I've tried. |

tactius:I disagree. At the current rate it can be done. At the bold, yes, if and only if we be true to our conscience. |

You just choose to be daft. Buhari wanting implementation of a better wage regime for Nigerian workers is labelled scam? How are some of you so clueless and moronic? It will help improve the lives of those that depend on paltry monthly salaries to survive. Bossontop: |

iammo:You have captured the problem(s) aptly. When the talk about the minimum wage came up.sometimes ago, I asked a friend how it would be funded. Majority of the Nigerian workers are not productive in the true sense of it. |

I get tired of the excuse theres no money to fund minimum wage. The fact is law has been made and has to be obeyed. We just look at GDP of each state there's plenty of money and different taxes they could use to fund budgets. Look at the IGR to GDP ratio. Notice how tiny it is. Nigeria's issue is everyone has an excuse for everything. The solution is simple raise more revenue or cut the work force.
