The police in Lagos state have arrested a 28 year old man, Anudumoapo Aiodun, for allegedly raping and defiling an eight year old girl.

A statement released by the state police command spokesperson, Bala Elkana, says that on Saturday June 15th at about 5.00pm, men of the Bariga Police Station received a complaint from a woman (Name withheld) that her eight years old daughter (Name withheld) was raped by their neighbour.

A team of detectives from the Family Support Unit promptly arrested the suspect.

The victim was taken to General Hospital for medical treatment and forensic examination.

Bala added that Investigation is ongoing and that the suspect will be charged to court soon.
