tex73:what you said is true but slightly different from what I mean, there is a world of difference between an excellent automobile mechanic n an automobile designer, while the former understands the workings n repairs of the automobile at which he/she might be very efficient the later engages in deep thought to come up with a new concept in automobile development,to me your wife n co fits the former but I wish the Nigerian academic record breakers will achieve the status of the later, this is what I mean. |

Kingkun69: When Nigerians go school abroad, they more often than not do well, and I mean very well. The same Nigerians that struggled in Nigeria... I know people that even failed out of a Nigerian University and became stellar abroad. to survive the sordid conditions and pass, requires mental toughness and ingenuity ( smartness). By the way, I have written foreign ( qualifying) exams and they were not even as tough as exams I wrote as an undergraduate... and I was not the smartest. |

Kingkun69:ok,if by this assertion you mean those Nigerian brains are so good, what has been their end product after all these years n numerous broken records? |

HBB1:everyone passes foreign exams it's collecting high scores that is palava OK is jamb hard again? No it's stupidly easy But students fail because of not reading or from jamb itself so basically suffering does not make u smart |

Kingkun69:Hahahahaaaaaaah!,oh boy na wa for you ooh!,so they don't have to make even one breakthrough!,ok I hear you, thank God me I no break any record. |
Re: 46 Medical Nigerian Students Graduate From Howard University, USA by HBB1(m): 6:03pm On Jun 17, 2019 |
Kingkun69: I was trying to be modest, the foreign exams have been moin-moin. US o, UK o, boys have been blasting it! I don't understand the Jamb rationale? If you ace your courses in spite of suffering, you will obviously do better in more favourable conditions. If you have experienced both sides of the divide, then you can objectively say Nigerians are not so smart. But if you have not... I will say again, Nigerians are soooo smart! P.S-- the foreign exams I wrote were Professional exams, undergraduate exams are undergraduate exams. |

Deepthoughts: Oga, what exactly are you trying to say? Nigerians are doing well in IT,Medicine, Law... if you decide to be blind to that, its your business. Mind you scientific breakthroughs sometimes take decades or centuries. Bill Gate's IQ is not higher than (say) Newton's because one makes Computer programmes and one observed apples. Breakthroughs take concerted effort. Years and years of little efforts by different people-- a light bulb here, a capacitor here, a teacher here, a calculator here, a book there... until you get that "magnificent breakthrough'' you want to see. Every scientific breakthrough rides on the wings of several unknown others before it. |

Kingkun69: thank god you said they do well. but its not in all the xourses you can skip classes. some attendance is mandatory. those guys that come once the thing with them are one of 2 instances, either they are just exceptionally smart or they are carrying the course over again so they really know it this time to not be in class where attendance isnt required. |

[quote author=prodigyhenry post=79417988] my comment was for those who have sense sadly you don't fall into that category. I am not talking about the standard of education we are talking about the standard of living of an average Nigerian public university student, have those guy ever had a 6am to 6pm lecture, have they ever struggled to get shuttle, have they ever trekked for kms to go to class?, have they ever been failed by a lecturer because he doesn't like their name or because they didn't buy a handout, have they ever gone go exam hall without eating for days, have they had to cram formulas and chemicals they have never seen?, have they had to understand something even their lecturers don't understand?.. those guys are smart no doubt but any Nigerian public university student that can get second class upper would do far better than this guys if he gets the chance/quote] That is a fallacy, it is not necessary the stress that makes one good as portray by you. Hardwork is the key to success. Even if the aforementioned( aside ruthless lecturers) obstacles isn't prevalent in our public universities, who go pass go pass. |

sunkieisland:Thank you. Many equate hardship for accomplishment. After suffering harsh conditions to graduate from OAU, the final question is whether the knowledge was acquired indeed and used to impart humanity? How many from OAU can answer those affirmatively? 1 Like |
