Helo Jubilee2000,

That message just means that no new appointment slots have been released yet. Please continue to check back regularly to see if dates have been released.

JUBILEE2000:
Dear USMissionNGA,

I submitted my online visa renewal application for BIB2 category. I have been trying to schedule an appointment for interview in Abuja but I keep getting the message "no available appointment dates". Please what does this mean? Is this message normal or was there anything I did wrong? This has been on for over a week now. Please your clarification will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Titiladeolu,

We require that you be able to show that you can fund the first year of your studies in order to be issued a visa. We do not require that any of our applicants have any sort of scholarship in order to qualify for a visa. If your school has offered you a scholarship or assistantship of any kind, we strongly recommend that you get an I20 that reflects this, as the I20 is the definitive proof of the source of funding for your education.

You do not need to resubmit a new DS-160 if you have already submitted yours.

Titiladeolu:
Hello US MISSION NG,

Please I have two questions.

1.Is it compulsory that I have some kind of funding to be issued F1 at this time of the year as that is the trend?

2. I have submitted DS160 before the addition of social media handle.Do I have to submit another one?

3.My school want to offer me GA but it’s not on my i20, it will just be a letter.how do I inform the VO as it’s only i20 and passport that he/she will ask for?

Dear USMissonNGRA,

I am quite unhappy right now. I was advised to send an email to retrieve my passport and I have been doing that over the last almost three weeks now but I am yet to get my passport back.

Please what other step can I take as I have also been calling your office all to no avail. I have visited DHL severally too.

Kindly advise as I need to get my passport back urgently please.

Thank you.

Dear @USMissionNGRA,

Please can you advise on this? I still haven't been able to schedule an early appointment date for my F1 interview. There is no expedited appointment option available on my profile as well.

I have sent several emails and no response.

Thank you.

graduatestudent:
Dear @USMissionNGRA,

I applied to renew my B1/B2 visa on 11th April. I however had urgent business travel to the UK and requested to retrieve my passport. When I picked up my passport, I was given a 221g letter to schedule a followup appointment within 48 hours to continue my application process. When I signed in to my profile the only dates available was either 11th may, which was the morning I was travelling to the UK or sometime in Septmeber. I called the US travel docs call center to inform them and they advised to book 11th May and no show on the appointment. I was also told that I will get another set of options for dates 72 hours after the appointment has been tagged a no show.

This has not been the case as all i get on my profile is there are not dates available at the moment. I have checked everyday since then and it is still the same issue. I was scheduled to travel to the US in May on business and I missed my trip due to this issue.

My problem now is that I need to process my F1 visa as I am starting graduate school in August and need to get an interview date for my visa. I have not been able to do this as my previous receipt number is still on my profile. The call center have been tossing me around even though I have told them I am no longer interested in applying for B1/B2 and they should take off the receipt so I can process my F1. They keep telling me to check my profile for dates to book for B1/B2 and then cancel the appointment, but there are no dates!! They keep closing my case and giving me generic responses, without even addressing the problem.

Please can you advise me on how I will be able to process my F1 as I have already purchased another receipt and paid my SEVIS fee? Anytime I go on to my profile to process the F1, the old receipt is still on there and even when i proceed with it, it says there are no dates available. Please help as i don't want to lose my admission and scholarship. Thank you.

Dear USVISA rep,

We did apply for a renewal via drop box for a staff of ours to make it for
a training scheduled for June 2-12, 2019. However, after two months of submission, the passport was returned with an invitation for interview and we quickly scheduled June 22 for the interview.
On a second thought, being that the time of the training has
elapsed, as the training was concluded yesterday and a refund is being expected from the institute .Is their any need to come for the interview again and the immediate need need for it has been defeated. Please do
advise us.

Hello ikaboy,

The choice is yours. If you do eventually reapply, you will be asked to reinterview, and we will likely ask why you chose not to reinterview when originally asked, but it will not result in a "ban" or an ineligibility if you choose not to come. The only thing at risk is the $160 you already paid for your application.

Hello consulars,

I applied for B1/B2 renewal with my family via Dropbox in March. After 7 week, my passport was returned with the instructions to schedule a follow-up interview under 221G category. Earliest available date was in September which I booked.

I see now that others who submitted their application much later are getting June dates for follow up interview. Is it possible to help expedite these follow up interview appointment dates please?

This will bring some measure of relief to me and many others in the same or similar situations.

Many thanks for your usual help and guidance on this platform

Hello USMissionNGRA.
It's really great that questions regarding US visas can be asked like this. My mum and I submitted applications for NIVs via drop box a month apart. She submitted hers on the 8th of April 2019 and I submitted mine on the 2nd of May 2019. We haven't heard back yet, but we tracked the status of both Visas and while mine says PASSPORT RECEIVED, hers says NO STATUS. I am a little concerned about that and have emailed lagosNIV@state.gov but got a generic response. I'd appreciate some guidance on what NO STATUS means and of there is anything we can do about it. Many thanks.

My case is presently at the nvc, f3 category. I was applied for f1 but got married while awaiting to be current. Now I've gotten a letter to begin processing. My question is am about to renew my passport, do I continue with my maiden name as written on filed on my letter or should I use my married name on the passport.?
Also I added my kids name after I logged in on my caec account, i snapped and uploaded their birth certificate (5yrs and 3yr old). Please how long will it take for my kids case to be approved as my derivatives. Thanks

Hello beholddean,

You are welcome to check back and reschedule your appointment for an earlier date if one becomes available. We also occasionally hold interviews on Saturdays to cut down on the wait time for those in 221g status. However, those are the only two options we currently have available to expedite already-scheduled appointments. As a gentle reminder, we ask that applicants not make final or nonrefundable travel plans until they have their visas in their possession.

Dear US Mission Nigeria,

I have an F1 student Visa coming up soon. I also applied for my toddler as a dependant. Should I go with the child for the interview or can I just go with his F2 Visa application documents?

Hello @USMissionNGRA,

I applied for a B1/B2 visa via dropbox on the 3rd of April. We have sent an email regarding an update on the application but there has been no response.

Not even a generic response. I've also sent a request for Passport return via the email address LagosDropBoxReturn@state.gov but also have no response.

I need to urgently travel next month and I need a way to get my passport back from the embassy. Please could you advise on the best way to make this happen?

Thanks

This is incorrect. They will not be fingerprinted, but they do need to appear in person at the interview.

Good. 14 years and below don't need interview.

Yes, it is possible to receive an F1 visa while you have a pending I130 petition. You can read more about the F1 visa application process and requirements at the following link: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/study/student-visa.html.
