Fraudsters Latest Strategy; Be Watchful by gentlemayor(op): 11:44pm On Jun 21, 2019
As shared by Samuel Mbonu

Somebody called me with this phone number 07060714545 telling me he was doing some registration online and he mistakenly put my number on what he was registering, that my number is similar to his number and that the password of what he was registering was sent to my phone which I actually saw as 6310.

He was now appealing to me to give him the reset code that was sent to my phone so that he could finish his registration. I told him to call me with the number he claimed was similar to mine so that I could verify his claim, he told me he didn't have credit in that line.

I got online to find out more, only to discover he was actually trying to reset my bank online/yahoomail password and that he is a fraudster, an account hacker and also a 419er. If I had given him the code which was sent to my phone, he would have used it to reset my bank online/mobile app account.

Please let us be careful and vigilant. Fraudsters are devising new ways every day.

This is a new way of defrauding people...

Its a lie abeg. Stop the nonsense. Most times its because they used a mobile number for their email before changing numbers and need help reseting the code. Alarmist. Cruel foool. Everything is fraud. You guys don't even think logically anymore. Everything is a scam to y'all. In a similar way I've lost email access to accounts I created on mobile numbers I don't use anymore and knows how that person feels. Oode. Is money in your email? Do you even have a dime in your bank account undecided

Excuses as this doesn't add up or justifies the woes of fraud in any kind

I really didn't want to honour you with a reply before but maybe you should read the quoted part again and you will understand where the post is driving at. He said he made a mistake by entering a wrong number. So tell me how a code sent to a wrong number will be useful to him. I don't understand how this brings about an insult. SMH
