Oga nobody is forcing Nigeria to go play football, if we can't afford the money then we better stay at home.

Your politicians have been stealing more task payers money how many times have you go out there to protest.

The people you played with are no f0ols, they didn't come to play.
Formation can bring out or keep a player for shinning, tnd opponent you're playing against with will come with a aim to keep one or two player at bay from doing their normal job.

Mikel obi played in his new club and many people, I mean those that understand football well apllualded him.
You say he is destroyed by lack of seriousness and ambition, really?
Have you heard of any coach complaining about him?
Just tell me, you said he is not serious, who were the first to arrive camp?
You said he is not ambitious tell me how many African footballers have achieved what he has achieved in football?

You keep saying Mikel is not in the team cos of lack of commitment, do you even know what commitment means?
I bet you don't.

So, because politicians are bad, we should condone badness? Moreover, we are not talking about protests, but criticism. I criticize politicians failing in their duties. There is no need to be sentimental when someone is serving poorly. I am am an auditor. If I fail in my duties, a lot of people will be affected and I should expect and accept criticisms.

Mikel Obi partied and missed trainings in his earliest seasons in Chelsea and was almost sacked if not for his father flying in to beg. Still, Mikel barely took training seriously. Mourinho did not destroy Mikel. Mikel destroyed himself. In fact, Mikel has Mourinho to thank for his stay in Chelsea. Other coaches would have sacked him for his lack of seriousness and constant partying.

Mikel is also known for selecting matches, especially when it comes to Nigeria. Siasia wanted him on the 2008 Olympics football team, but Mikel declined. The same thing happened recently when he kept giving Rohr excuses. This is a nonsense he can never try with a coach like Westahof.

That is why Oliseh gave Ahmed Musa the captain's band rather than Mikel. Mikel lacks commitments to country.

are we talking about bank account or performance , your iq is low af ni

Oga, don't mention IQ and money making in the same sentence. Anyone can make money. The fact that money is the ultimate ambition for most Nigerians including yourself should not he a yardstick to judge others.

He was invited to camp not based on his bank balance and viewers did not tune in yestetday to see his financial assets but his sporting performance. That is the basis of this thread. And if you understand how short a sporting career is you will realise just how fleeting their so called wealth is. Top players do evetything to prolong their careers by performance simply because of what you seem to like and prefer.... money.

Mikel knows this and that is why he has unretired from the national team quite a few times.

Bro,
Ever since Mourinho converted Mikel to defensive midfield @Chelsea, Mikel has always seemed out of position when in the National team...

He has always been the cause of experimental formations just so he can be accommodated.

Out of sentiment he was dubbed to replace JayJay Okocha but he never stood up to that expectation till today.

Always lacked pace, good passing and tackling but lacked the spark to wear the iconic 10, not a goal scorer, average set piece ability, till today can't determine his best position.
how do people sit somewhere and dubbed someone the next Jay Jay...mikel is best used as defensive midfielder...
let iwobi play AM simple...mourinho got the best of him and it paid off for him...
na play out of best use make ihenacho node team so he was converted to a full striker and it has Neva worked...
bale was once a defender he was converted to attack
ndidi was a defender converted to DM
this obsession of 2005 should end Mikel was Neva a fast guy...his strength is holding play break play and can give some nice passes

Taxpayers' money go into preparing these guys for the AFCON. They are not doing it for free. They should be criticized when they do a bad job. If you pay a mechanic to check your car, and he does a below par job, won't you complain?

As for your question, not everyone is a footballer. The fact that someone is not a footballer does not mean he can't criticize a footballer. I don't have to be a doctor to criticize a doctor who has failed to do the job he is paid handsomely to do.

I am not trying to judge Mikel's level of competency as I do believe that he is very talented but was destroyed by a lack of seriousness and ambition. This was a guy who was sought after by major clubs after the 2005 u20 world cup. He went to Chelsea and led a reckless life while Messi was busy building his own career. Today, we can see where Messi and Mikel stand as far as reputation is concerned.

In my opinion, Mikel should not even be in this team, not because of age or a lack of talent, but because of his obvious lack of commitment. Ahmed Musa should be captain.
go and remove the captain give musa...
can u mention Messi teammate at under 20 Argentina still playing for national team...
where is taiwo...
some of una no get sense comparing Mikel to Messi...
Mikel ranks among top ten best players of all times for Nigeria...and is a African legend

Don't be stupid.

Messi and Mikel were the two best players in that competition and coming off that competition, the world was expecting much from Mikel. We all remember the struggles of Manchester United and Chelsea over him, including court injunctions. Go and read about what Mourinho said about Mikel when Chelsea eventually won the rights to him. Even Messi did not get so much buzz.

As for legends, Mikel does not come close to the first 10 even among the midfielders that we have had.

That is history. Sports is about present form. Present form wins trophies except we are in Egypt for exhibition. And on the balance yesterday he wasn't fit for the first team. If he played on, the match will have been drawn at best and calculators will be out.

dachilino:
Mikel Obi who spoke after the Super Eagles game against Burundi in the ongoing AFCON competition, stated that they were too hard to crack. According to the Super Eagles captain, the original plan was to go for early victory but the Burundian side held their ground making it difficult for the Eagles to  have a smooth sail. Mikel Obi who stated that the Burundi national team was quite hard to crack, however expressed delight that the Eagles ultimately earned the three points at stake.

“It was indeed a tough match. We played a compact team that was not easy to break into" he said.

The Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr who agreed with his Captain that it was a tough match, remained optimistic that the team will play better as the tournament progresses. He however blamed the struggle on setbacks in the camp, no thanks to virus that attacked the players within the week making it impossible for many of them to function to full capacity.

The only reasonable mention so far.
Nigerians are more emotional when they speak than factual
Mikel had a bad day on the pitch which some best players do have at times, but it does not ake away the fact that Mikel is one of the best players of his generation in Africa and Nigerian in particular.

Just one good performance from him again and see his traducers hailing him to high heaven in their hypocritical manner.

GodSaklek:
Am not surprised that mikel is saying this, his inclusion in afcon is a disaster to this young players,it do more harm and damages than good, the worst captain in the history of super eagle, for a foreign commentor to say, "mikel is not leading his team mates,a captain that played badly". The coach should always introduce him when the game has already been won, mikel never improve his game since 2005,a year before kanu retired,he's still playing beautiful football, the same as okocha and other previous captain, but this one is worst as a captain, his boring game has weaken his team mates and got them tired quickly, his presence on field reduces those guys performances ,only for his assistant(musa) to comes in and motivate the boys.

What do you know about football?
