I have travelled to many different countries in Africa and this is one of the most common questions that I get the most about Christianity. Christianity is not but religion that of Jesus Christ the son of God. It came through the Western people. The missionaries rode the horse of the colonial masters whose passionn was to expand their expand their empires. The colonial masters came by the ambition of kings or emperors while the church came by some groups who saw the reason to take the good news to the unreached. So, when people say the church is a Western religion, is Israel a Western state,? The church reached the West by a different human traffic than ours. The colonial masters imposed their culture on is which are not necessarily church tenets.e.g. marriage from courts was / is still more recognised than church's till now by the nations from which the missionaries came from.

It's rather eastern in term of geographical origin

Christianity is a way of life of a certain group of people known as the west
Islam on the other hand is a way of life of a certain group of people known as the Arabs

The problem with Africans is that they don't have an identity of their own.

If the west or the Arabs say do this..... They'll just sheepishly follow, depending on their religion.

In the old testament of the Bible, people married more than one woman. Then the west now said it should be one man one woman, gbam Christians in Nigeria followed suit.
The west started gender equality, now gender equality is preached in churches across Nigeria. No identity whatsoever from the black race.

The arabs conservative nature doesnt allow all these silly changes that's why we don't get to see this changes in the way of life of Muslims in Nigeria. Islam of 2002 is still the Islam of tomorrow, unlike Christians that change with the times.



So yes, Christianity is a western religion.

What exactly do you mean by western religion? obviously it didn't originate there and the majority of christains are non-westerners.But again it has been largely shaped by european culture,without which the practice of the religion would be almost unrecognisable,hence the impression of it being a western religion.Of course,christains are foremost in their eagernest to do whatsoever the west does be it negative.
