17 - Messi announced himself to Spanish football as a 17-year-old, making his debut against Espanyol before going on to get his first goal, a delightful lob in a win over Albacete, having had a similar finish harshly disallowed. That season also brought his first piece of silverware, as Barca won LaLiga.

18 - On the international stage, Messi's career has been a case of 'what might have been' and the signs were there right from the start. His Argentina debut at the age of 18 lasted less than a minute, as he was sent off in a friendly against Hungary. However, he did get his first goal at the same age, scoring against Croatia. At club level, he got his hands on the Champions League for the first time, plus a second LaLiga title and the Spanish Supercopa.

19 - A second successive Supercopa arrived for Messi when he was 19, though his greatest achievement of the year was his first hat-trick, in El Clasico of all games. A clinical finish at the end of a flowing move was followed by an emphatic volley and fine solo effort in a 3-3 draw.

20 - Although he was clearly already destined for greatness, Messi's career may have been significantly different had Pep Guardiola not been appointed Barca coach when the forward was 20. His arrival came after Frank Rijkaard could only guide Barca to third in LaLiga.

21 - Messi found another level and truly established himself as Barca's key player at the age of 21. He scored 38 goals that year, helping the club to a remarkable treble, which included his second European title and a third LaLiga crown.

22 - Champions League and Copa del Rey retention were beyond Barca the following year, though Messi still got to lift the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup for the first time. The Blaugrana also won LaLiga and the Supercopa, while Messi took home his first Ballon d'Or and European Golden Shoe.

23 - Another glorious year followed, as Messi got his hands on a fifth LaLiga title and won the Champions League for the third time. He scored 53 goals as a 23-year-old, a personal best at the time, and unsurprisingly clinched a second successive Ballon d'Or.

24 - Although the two main trophies eluded Barca and Messi when he was 24, it proved to be his best year to date in terms of goals. He scored a remarkable 73 in all competitions, making him the obvious winner of a third consecutive Ballon d'Or and second European Golden Shoe.

25 - Incredibly, Messi reached the 300 goals mark for Barca when he was just 25. The same year he guided the team to the league title – his sixth – and won the Ballon d'Or for the fourth season in a row, making him the first to ever achieve the feat.

26 - Having passed the 300 mark at 25, netting 60 that year, Messi became Barca's all-time leading scorer across all matches – including friendlies – when he was 26, passing Paulino Alcantara's record of 369. The Spanish Supercopa was the only trophy he won that year, however, as Gerardo Martino was dismissed.

27 - Messi's Champions League drought ended when he was 27 and he was truly back to his best. He boosted his goal haul from 41 the previous year to 58, passing the 400 mark in the process, and inspired the team to another treble.

28 - It was another hugely successful year for Messi at 28, with LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup all added to the crowded Barca trophy cabinet. Messi also increased his personal collection, winning a fifth Ballon d'Or. He also overtook G

abriel Batistuta to become Argentina's all-time leading scorer.

29 - The goals landmarks continued to tumble at 29, with Messi surpassing 500 in a Barca shirt. For the year he scored an impressive 54, earning himself a fourth European Golden shoe. With the club, he lifted a fifth Copa del Rey title and seventh Supercopa, but Luis Enrique ended his three-year stint at the helm.

30 - Early in the 2017-18 season, Messi became the first player to reach 350 LaLiga goals and made his 600th appearance for the club across all competitions in

Fast?

Becoming?

You mean the process is still on going? cheesy
grin

On the scene you guys are just watering the ground for what you will say if Messi eventually wins Copa America.

*They were organizing it every year

*They brought Qatar

At the same time you guys are sharpening your knives behind the scenes, just waiting patiently and praying for Argentina to get knocked out.

Then you will lead out your troops in this thread.

God pass una.

Lol. Having Qatar in the group meant an easier shot at qualification.

That post had nothing to do with what would ve happened outside the group stage.

Would Argentina have qualified yesterday if it was Venezuela or Peru?

Anyhow. Let's see how far their luck would carry them this time.
yeah but my point is;

there was no Qatar the past two editions but they went alllllllll the wayyyyyyyyy to the final.

Let's postpone the L awards till July 7th when Argentina beats Uruguay 2-1 in the final.

Then I'd serve you properly.

Goals and assists win you games. Not accumulating take-on stats for the highlights. Argentina are not on their way home right now because of goals scored by Aguero and Martinez and not the 4 players Messi dribbled on the edge of the box.

Yet those players will still keep getting blamed for everything. Byke dropped a gif of Aguero but not of Messi's miss. The players u guys blame and call deadwoods have carried ur MCM so far in this tournament.
You do know that the current Ballon D or holder didn't win it by goals and assists, right?

Why doesn't he win in Europe?' - Van Gaal blames Messi for Barcelona's Champions League failures

"I believe that there is nothing more important than the team player,” said Van Gaal.

“Barca suffer from that. I think Messi should ask himself how it is possible that he’s gone so long without winning a Champions League.

“Look at Barcelona. How many Champions Leagues have they won with the one everybody says is the best player in the world? Look at Neymar at PSG. How many Champions Leagues has he won?

“He’s the best individual player in the world because his stats are amazing. But why hasn’t he won a Champions League for five years?

"As captain, you have to ask yourself why the team doesn’t win in Europe. I think that Messi is also responsible for what is happening at Barcelona, not just the coach.

“They have a squad of 30 players and I believe that Messi should adapt himself to the team, and not the other way around."

"Guardiola made him play to the benefit of the team but the last few coaches have adapted too much to Messi instead of protecting team spirit. Team spirit is the most important thing.

“Messi adjusted to Guardiola’s plan, not the other way around.”

A month after Copa Del Rey finals, still, Barcelona haven't signed chicken. Upon the way the media hyped Griezz's transfer like it were already done and would be announced after the finals, a month later, we are still shopping.

Heads up everyone, it doesn't look likely, but don't be surprised if we end up with this current crop of players for next season.

Just saying.....

Griezmann's transfer is supposed to happen on the 1st of July, when his release clause would drop to 120M. We've already signed De Jong, and for the left back position there are strong links for backup to Alba.

De Jong has been since January. That's not a summer transfer

Guys news everywhere now is that neymar has agreed a paycut to join barca in a 5year deal

Also cillesen is on his way to valencia

This neymar deal just doesn't feel right. The wage bill will be absolute madness. Although no be my money sha.

But still camp nou fans go change am for am. And what happens to either of coutinho/dembele.

I guess the news na just mere speculation but i googled it and its almost on every sport sites and its a few hours ago. Some 1 hour ago and 3hours

Hmm. Make we dey watch sha but neymar coming back doesn't feel right. Even though i still like him but what happens to dembelehuh. Unless barca will offload suarez and coutinho then i will be very happy. Or offload coutinho and suarez chop bench which seems impossible for now

Dembele will be the scape goat.

We cannot have our cake and eat it.

Seems they are serious about Neymar;

Dembele has got to go!

Quite sad.

But on the bright side it could favour both parties

We having msn back will make us extremely hot once more. Surely neymar coming will improve Suarez and coutinhos game. Same applies applies to arthur. Atleast one way or the other.

Also if psg sign dembele and griezmann too. I think its an awesome deal for them

I had like us to keep dembele but lets face it; he is quite overpriced and will still take some time to fully develop at barca but at psg he will improve a lot more especially with mbappe as his partner and having more game time and all

You just made me realize i actually don't mind this deal happening. Infact i am cool with it. Neymar still has 5years to play top level football. Within those 5years we can snap up another top prospect like dembele. Like that celtic wonderkid or even from la masia.

All in all i just realized i now want neymar back even at the expense of dembele. So if the deal goes through its all good

It's one of Arthur and Jong.

Me think messi has to go if we are getting Neymar , he is not Adding anything defensively, and we are just too predictable with him on the pitch.
because all attack has to go through him.

Well time will tell. But so far so good Jong is way too too good for bench. In my opinion i think he is the midfielder and i rate him ahead of arthur
