just a sign of another ignorant style of doing things in africa. Just like you said, a transiting traveler has no business whatever with the country he or she is transiting from. One can only declear funds if the country is the final destination of the traveler. Maybe Ethiopia is going through cash crunch, so they came up with such policy so as to raise additional income as a nation

I have gone to SA and Kenya and all through i have passed through Ethiopia... You know why? They have one of the best affordable flights and they always take you first to Ethiopia before you enter another plane to your destination.... Many Nigerians go through Ethiopia.

international aviation law doesn't warrant passengers on transit to fill custom forms. You only do that in the country of your final destination

US can even cancel your visa if you are transiting through one of the countries they have a check...

I don't believe US will just decide to cancel your Visa because one is on transit from Sudan,north korea or Venezuela except you are involved in some dubious group or activity that is under their radar. Or your visa is to enter US. Even with that, you must have done something bad that warrants them to cancel your Visa. Mind you, there are citizens from Sudan, North Korea and Venezuela resident in America

Likely becuase the jump in the number of Nigerians migrating overseas using addis ababa has transit airport.
Why ethiopia airline? Tickets are cheaper than Asian, European or American airline.

If the money is declared, i see no reason why it should be seized.

"You think" meaning you have no idea or you are not sure of the information that supports your knowledge of the issue. You don't fill any form on transit. They only take a copy of your boarding pass and stamp your passport.
