The Toyota RAV4 is a compact crossover SUV of the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota. This was the first compact crossover SUV. He made his debut in Japan and Europe in 1994 and North America in 1995 and was launched in January 1996. Toyota has completely revised and re-figured its RAV4 for 2001. The all-new Toyota RAV4 is more refined than its predecessor and looks much better. The RAV4 from Toyota was from the beginning a leader in the market for mini-SUVs, and not quite standard. True, it was the earliest mini-SUV that gave him a competitive edge. But building on the proven Camry platform has certainly contributed to its reliability and ease of use.

The RAV4 is available in three trim levels with four doors each: Base, Sport and Limited. All three start with front-wheel drive and the same 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 166 hp and four-speed automatic transmission. All three can be upgraded to the 3.5-liter V6 with 269 hp with a new five-speed automatic transmission. Full-time all-wheel drive is available down the line. Safety features include two-stage frontal airbags, LATCH child seat anchors, anti-lock brakes with brake assist and electronic brake force distribution, electronic stability control and traction control. Side airbags and side airbags are optional on all three models. The Toyota RAV4 was completely redesigned for 2006.

However, the V6 option of the RAV4 is no longer available as only a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 176 hp and 172 pound-feet of torque is left-relatively low for its class. A six-speed automatic transmission provides the front wheels with power in the standard configuration. You can opt for the all-wheel drive. A RAV4 front-wheel drive manages 24 mpg city and 31 mpg highway; The heavier four-wheel drive reduces efficiency to 22 MPG City and 29 MPG Highway.

The Toyota RAV4 from 2019 is a complete new development, with the fifth generation of this small crossover is presented. The new model is slightly longer, has a stiffer bodywork and an updated power-train. Additional safety features and updated four-wheel drive systems with multi-terrain select control complete the most important changes of the year. Toyota markets a RAV4 hybrid variant separately.
All models are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive models achieve an EPA rating of 26 miles per gallon city, 35 MPG highway and 30 miles together.
