Mayor says 95 bodies recovered so far and
much of village is still burning

At least 95 people have been killed and 300 missing after an attack on Sunday on a village of Fulani herders in central Mali where communal violence has surged in recent months, a local mayor said. Two other Fulani communities were targeted on Sunday evening amid a string of deadly assaults between herders and ethnic Dogon farmers who have long fought over land and resources but whose rivalry has been stoked this year by the growing presence of armed groups.

"During Sunday, and overnight, in the villages of Bidi, Sankoro and Saran, armed men attacked civilians, killing 95 of them," Cheick Harouna Sankare, mayor of the neighbouring town of Ouenkoro, told AFP news agency. "The situation is serious, the army needs to act to reassure the population," he said, adding that an emergency meeting had been called.

President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita's government has vowed to disarm the militias but has struggled to do so. Tit-for-tat violence between rival communities escalated this year. In March, suspected Dogon militiamen killed more than 150 Fulani in central Mali, one of the worst acts of bloodshed
in the country's recent history. Raids on Dogon villages in June killed over 40 people. Instability is fuelled further by the presence of armed groups, who use northern and central
Mali as launchpads to stage attacks across the Sahel.

This is a lesson the Nigerian government should learn from,if it wants to,despite it's obvious ethnic agenda.
Land is one of the most contentious and easily violence instigating issues individuals, communities and countries have fought over.
It's worse when ethnic lands are perceived to want to be taken or forcefully acquired for another ethnic group. This is because land is a source of food all over the world, especially fertile land;aside being a source of shelter, water and historical root of a people.
Even men and women of God and hitherto violence hating individuals have been known to take up arms when their ethnic or communal lands seek to be acquired by other ethnic groups.
The government should take a lesson from this Mali incident and prevent such mindless bloodletting from happening in Nigeria.

When an ethnic group decides that they will go anywhere they like and make their cattle supreme lords of other people lands, it wont be long before somebody gets fed up and kills someone

Problems here

1.Both the Fulanis and the local tribes don't trust the law enforcement agencies of Mali. So they take the laws into their hands. This is the result.

2. As the Sahara expands plus the security issues (Mali has an active secessionist movement and ten there is the local ISIS affiliate), Fulani are being drawn into competition for scarce grazing land. With farmers.

Solutions start with fixing the desertification issue, modernizing farming, fixing transportation sector (cows can be transported by rail) and so on.

Nigerians must do the needful.

It's already too late for them. It will happen in Nigeria, fulani will definitely reap what they have been sowing against all other ethnic groups in the country. Mark my words, fulanis will be hunted down by a consensus of other ethnic groups very very soon.

Intelligent talk. Sadly i doubt the fulani-led government of the bigot President Buhari will heed any meaningful advice.
Ethnic nationalities should prepare to defend themselves, the armed forces of Nigeria has been corrupted and compromised.
Some Buhari/APC apologists here don't even realise they are potential future refugees when Buhari crashes the nation.
Former Yugoslavia and Rwanda provide more validation to this.

Mali locals dey craze pass fulani.

The militias overthrew the government before U.N. stepped in

They can't duplicate the destruction Buhari is allowing them here in Mali.

There are always innocent people caught in conflicts. May God rest their souls.
