How long did he save it? How long are you giving the people in Canada?

As a student I had saved 4million then.
And as a working class many people make this money easily in months..
The way you guys talk sef eh.. like you don’t pay house rents and bills too

I’m gonna be honest and say Canada is way better than Nigeria and no bills are not gonn’ kill you. Many people here pay it and still have mansions down there!

OK, let's be fair and say over a 2-year period. How many people with regular jobs in Canada have 4M saved up (as in net worth, no debt)? Yes, they make this in months, but the point is cash saved up without debt obligations or bills siphoning all of it away.

Nigeria is not easy that's for sure, and as somebody pointed out: money does not guarantee safety or comfort. However, I feel if one is able to save up 4M in this Buhari era, especially as a young person, then they have enough drive to succeed here, and should not waste their talents going to Canada where they will likely (like most before them) become debt slaves, working to pay interest and bills.

The people who are able to travel all over the place are mostly entrepreneurs and well-compensated employees who have made it here in Nigeria. How many Nigerians in Canada are able to travel internationally on a regular basis? The ones we see barely scratch together $3,000 for tickets and some flexing, and still have debts that they should have paid instead of traveling.

I will definitely admit that life abroad is sane, calm, and much safer than the madness of here, and that seems the OP's goal.

Give me two years from now Sir and I would save 10million. Entirely Debt free. Are you fucking kidding me! If I save 10million in two years working consistently right now, I won’t even be proud of myself! It means am living a life above my means. Or partying and stuff!

You wanna know what my bills are.

House rent 500 (includes electricity and water and heat and WiFi)
Phone: 98 (includes unlimited internet)
Gas 100-150 (Monthly)
Food 200
NB: I don't drink alcohol or club
Misc 200

This is the bills you are talking about. And I can’t save 4million if am making 2500 a month in 2years?
Not including the ones you send home o. Even if my bills are as high as 1500 I can still do it. When my bills exceed 1500 then am paying for my own house, simple! It’s all discipline.

You are joking! You guys be discouraging people all the time

And how much is 3k$, if it’s nothing. Can an average Nigerian fly DOMESTICALLY at all?!

Nigeria is not just mad. It’s a POOR country. CAN’T compare with Canada.. NEVER!

Smiles, not all greener pastures are really green....Trust me,do you know thousands of people abroad who do not a million naira un their account and they have been away for a long time....pls. be warned, with that huge amount of money, you can start something small with it in Nigeria and grow it with time....that 4million is a lot of money in Nigeria but a chicken fee abroad.
Let's talk about the processes of traveling, if you are not lucky enough, you can be duped and will be left with nothing, aside that,we all know traveling to Europe from Nigeria doesn't come easy, one might not even get it after so much.If i had that much of a money on me couple years back i wouldn't have left the shore of that country, therefore, i will advice you to look inward for your salvation not from the outward, brava. Most things in life are not always what they seems like from afar off...
if you return to Nigeria today, trust me you wouldn't want to live there. Nigeria is only sweet if you are very rich

And how will he recover all, through processing of palm oil?

My Sister,

1. with a Business that can give you an average of 15-25k per tree per year after 3 yrs.. and trees have a productive life-span of over 15yrs, it is worth the wait
2. How will he recover what? He breaks even and in profit as end of period 3 (all costs factored)

Some studio flats (self cons) cost as much as $1000 MONTHLY.

How does he feed other bills?

Bro I strongly support your decision as I see it as the best you can do for yourself and your family at this point considering there's no hope in sight for Nigeria.
But the big question now is where do you go to and after that is answered, you have to answer the next which is how do you get there.
I am a Professional travel agent, Contact me on 08109476528 for a 2 minutes chat on all I've stated above and I promise to offer my comprehensive answer to them.

Buying a house is a form of investment, as you build what is called equity when you do that. i have not included child matter, as i have assumed that this is a Single with no children. A married or common-law partner family with a child(ren) means they can afford to earn more from both partners working and possibly earn monthly government child care benefits, which can go as high as 550 cad/child. excluding other provincial benefits.
i dont know the amount where your child benefit get cut drastically. i think when family income tops 80k or thereabout. that 550 will turn to maybe 50bucks a month

Eco2580:

Bro,
Iam planning to continue my education in canada togather my my wife Msc/ Phd, am 33 with 2 kids.
Am coming there on self sponsor, can u pls give my a rough estimate of what our monthly bills will look like? I.e 700USD, 1000USD.

NB: I will appreciate any other advise

For a family of 4. i.e Wife, husband and two kids.
I would use average figures. you can add + or - 10%. Minus for being conservative.

I would be making some assumptions:

Assuming your fees has been paid.
Assuming a 1100sq ft house.
Assuming you have no car finance (i.e you paid cash for your cars, cars are neccesities here)
Assuming no credit card debt, student loan, or other debt like furmiture finance
Assuming you have no mortgage ( so I exclude property tax and maintenance cost)

- House rent: $1,300
- Electricity: $70
- Water: $100
- Heat: $100
- Wifi (no cable): $100
- Phone (you and wife): $150
- Gas: $150 to $200.
- Food: $600
- Misc (toys, clothes, diapers, gifts, drugs, maintenance etc):$ 200
- Daycare for 2 kids (atleast till one of them clocks age 12): $1800
- Car insurance for 2 cars (you and madam): $200

That is approximately $4500 Canadian dollars monthly expense.

To give you a better understanding:
$4500 net monthly is equivalent to a family income of about $7,000 gross monthly income. i.e If you earn $7,000 per month, your take home will be around $4,500 after tax and other important deductions at source.

That means your income and of your wife will need to be atleast $7000 to break even.

I hope that helps.

N4million will only make sense in African countries, you can try Abidjan if you speak French. If you insist on going to Europe, try going as a student to Germany
thanks for your input.and besides I have been considering Germany in relative to MSC.
