Anambra State Government Tours Major Water Projects In The State.

The Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engr Emeka Ezenwanne in company of some staff of the ministry ,yesterday embarked on facility tour to some of the water projects in Onitsha, Nnewi and Ihiala.

The tour was for the commissioner, Engr Ezenwanne to get acquainted with things on ground and champion way forward for all the water scheme in the state.

The site visited were, Raw Water Upper Intake, Nkpor, Greater Onitsha Water Scheme and ,20 million liters of water tank, Army barracks Onitsha,

Others include GRA borehole treatment plant, Onitsha, Ogidi and Obosi water scheme and Nnewi water corporation

The commissioner was conducted round at the water scheme Onitsha where he found out that some people have encroached the land thereby vandalizing all the equipment that made the water scheme functional.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the inspection, the commissioner, Engr Ezenwanne said the essence was to see things for himself as Governor Willie Obiano designed a comprehensive water master plan to ensure that Ndi Qnambra have portable water.

It would be recalled that the state government through the ministry has done more on electrification and in lightening up the streets in the state.

Now, the policy thrust has shifted to water to ensure that Ndi Anambra have access to a good pipe borne water.

Anambra excels at Abuja Literary Festival Grand Slam.

Members of Anambra Literary Society are currently representing Anambra State at the Abuja Literary Festival.

On Friday, July 12, 2019, during the Grand Poetry Slam session which took place at the Exhibition pavillion, Garki, Abuja, poets from different parts of Nigeria including Anambra State competed for the grand prize of four hundred thousand naira.

All the participants from Anambra State made it to the finals but one of them, Divine Onyekwena emerged as the second runner - up.

While speaking to ABS, Divine Onyekwena appreciated God and Anambra Literary Society for the opportunity to represent Anambra State.

On his part, The Director of Anambra Literary Society, Mr Chimuanya Chemo Egenti expressed satisfaction with the performance of Team Anambra at the Abuja Literary Festival Grand Slam as it showed the literary prowess of Ndi Anambra.

He added that some of the participants had earlier competed in other Slams in Anambra State especially Divine who emerged the Slam Champion at the PIN Poetry Slam Anambra and the first runner up at the Anambra Literary Society Slam.

This is coming barely one week after Poets in Nigeria, Nigerian Students Poetry Prize award which saw a young Onye Anambra from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Mr Damian Okpara emerge as the first runner - up winning a cash prize of hundred thousand naira. Other young Ndi Anambra made it to the finals out of over 500 entries.

The Abuja Literary Society Festival ends today, Saturday with performances from different people including another member of the Anambra Literary Society, Chisom Udeoba.

2. It was in view of the above determination that the CP today 13/7/2019 paid an assessment visit to Nkpor roundabout in Idemili North LGA and MCC junction, Upper Iweka, Owerri road/Aba Park all in Onitsha Anambra State.

3. Purpose of the visit is for local knowledge and obtain a first hand information about the pattern of crimes being perpetrated in those areas with a view to curtailing them through effective deployment and visibility patrols.The visit is still ongoing.

FG May Redesign 2nd Niger Bridge To Prevent Suicide
There are indications that the Federal government may re-
design the second Niger Bridge so as to forestall anyone
from committing suicide via the bridge.
The Federal Controller of works in Anambra, Adeyemo
Ajani, gave the hint when he took members of the Abuja
branch of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) on an
inspection at the Ogbaru site of the 2nd Niger Bridge project
in Onitsha on Saturday July 13th.
“What we have on the walk lane is our standard
design but what the engineers are talking about is a
kind of review. If we have to do abnormal design to
take care of suicidal situations, it will require
another design.
“There has been rapid progress on the project. The
last time the minister and the vice-president came,
it was 15 per cent level completion but today it is
above 21per cent. When you look at it from the
time the project started, we are now at 24 per cent
completion.
“The main bridge has begun; we have done all the
piling and the structures above water level have
been done considerably. At the Asaba end, we have
raised the structure to the deck up to 80 per cent.”
Ajani said.
