If the slap was unprovoked then he should press charges. After all if that lady that was slapped had provoked the slapping senator the story would have changed in understanding for his actions.

That Senator wouldn't have slapped the woman unprovoked. We all know women. But asking his police escorts to further humiliate the woman is where he stepped over the line. And he should have minded where all these happened; a intimacy gadget shop.
