Fellow nairalanders, just this afternoon, my car Golf 4 2005 model won't engage when u put the gear on Drive but reverse very well u put it in reverse. Pls anyone that have had such experience Should kindly advise me. |

First check your transmission fluid to know it isnt low and chances are your shift cable got broken somewhere, Get a mechanic to replace the cable, You would be fine, something else, change your transmission fluid if it looks brownish or flush the system if it looks dark. |

aaronson:Thanks. I have checked the gear oil, it is dark and it was just changed now. The problem is still persistent. I will try and draw the mechanic's attention to the shift cable. |

the cable wey shift reach R go shift reach D try shifting it all the way to 1 if it does or doesn't engage at 1,u need anoda transmission sir sadly |
