dear forum members, am about to buy a used Toyota Camry 2007, Hybrid, hope am not making a mistake, has anybody owned a hybrid in naija?, can it be maintained here?, is it a better offer than Toyota Camry 2007 V6 (that's my other option) Pls someone should tell me more about hybrid use in naija cos i love d internet review on the car. my own lil contribution is this. mechanics are trying to get used to the normal camry cos of its advanced technology and u are getting the hybrid version? believe me, they may just damage ur wiring without repair while they think they repairing. its not their fault. its the tech in place. i may be wrong though but i strongly think im right.also, i have never seen an hybrid in the country. |

@ Danvik, Theres a saying that goes like this "Think Global, Act Local". You have to think of fixing the car down the road. Even if you can find someone who can fisx it in Lagos. What happens if you have problem when you are in Bendel State? Do you tow it to Lagos? Or hope those guys in Benin know what they are doin? Moreso, the hybrid has a battery bank which doesnt last 4ever. You will have to contact Toyota for it. Believe me you will PAY!. even if you manage to get a good used one. You will still pay!. If i were you, i will stay far far away from a Hybrid for now. At least goin by the current Nigerian mechanics' tech level. My 2 cents |

I beg to Differ here, Theres nothing Exceptional on the Camry Hybrid, Its a 4 Cylinder 16 Valve VVT-i Engine, It like evry Normal Camry, The Only difference is the Rechargeable Battery that converts to Stored Electrical Energy Every Battery Comes with a 7 year Warranty, Other than the battery, The Mechanical Parts are components are the same with every 4 cylinder Camry. The Camry Hybrid is the top of the range on the Camry Trim, it floors the Camry XLE V6 and its the Best Driven Camry So far Any Auto Mechanic can deal with the Maintenance and Servicing here in Nigeria, Ive got a couple of friends that owns the 07 Camry Hybrid here in Lagos and theres no fault or nothing spectacular to deal with I have one for Sale here https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-197146.0.html

thegame: When it does, Youre covered by Warranty. You need to visit Hyundai's Workshop, I was there last week and I saw over 70 units of faulty 2008 Hyundai Elantras, Thats the beauty of Warranty, No car is 100% free of Problem, I repeat NO CAR What gives the Peace of mind is the Warranty I'm giving a 5 Years Warranty or 50,000 km Whichever comes first, You can begin to raise eyebrows if the Dealer is not willing back up the Sale with a Warranty |

have you ever thought of buying a hybrid car for 4.5 mil and cost of replacing the battery for 1.5 mil including purchase, import, installations? dont think it cant happen o. car parts may be funny sometimes especially in this country stick to the pertol. u only enjoy ur hybrid battery for a maximum of 7 years but considering naija situation, expect 4  respect ur warranty though. big ups |

Emperoh: THE EMPEROH, Thanks My friend, You get a 7 years Warranty on Hybrid Battery additionally you get 5 years on the Mechanical Parts of the Whole Car, What Else ? Even with 20 years Warranty, My Nigerian friends will still want more  |

I was at Hyundai Workshop last week and I saw Loads of them for Warranty Covered Repairs, Not Impressive at all. |

Camry battery really dealt with me bought it for 350k before I resold it to a friend who is enjoying it now, the only problem is the battery when it develops fault be ready to cough out 350k for the battery |

Kreamie:Now that I am chopping MASA I can now see clearly. I just covered an over 1000km trip on a 2009 hybrid with a battery I rebuilt, it did not cost me 350k The battery pack comes with a module of 34cells. Due to their position and temperature variation, some cells die out faster than others. The defective cells can be replaced and the battery will last several thousand miles.
