18 JULY (10th Nelson Mandela International Day) by TMKsouth(op):
Hello World & Nigeria

Every year on this day millions of people across South Africa and the world dedicate 67 minutes of their time to help better their communities in their small way. I urge you to do the same.

Today would have been an icon's birthday. That is Nelson Mandela. He spent 67 years of his life fighting for a better and just world. You too can dedicate a small fraction of your day to doing small and meaningful good deeds for others. Help paint a school, visit an orphanage, clean your street or donate to a good cause. Just do something that will make you and others feel good, and leave a lasting and positive impact.

My message to NIGERIAN leaders today: Learn to earn everlasting respect and reputation like Mandela rather than fighting for ephemeral values like your pockets and your tribal interests. Learn to leave a positive lasting impression.

Hopefully someone tell this to S. Africa

As army deployment is delayed, 43 murdered over bloody Cape Town weekend

It was another bloody weekend in the city.

While police minister Bheki Cele boasted about the arrest of 141 suspects at a crime summit in Paarl on Sunday afternoon, it has emerged that 43 people were killed between Friday and Monday.

This was also despite a heightened police presence in some of Cape Town's most violent areas, such as Philippi where 13 people were killed the previous weekend.

In one case at the weekend, three people were injured in Grassy Park after police and suspects exchanged gunfire.
