Please Disney should stop with these live action remakes abeg. It’s just annoying. If you ain’t going to make something better and more interesting, just let it be for Christ sake. I can’t believe I went into watching the Lion king with a very low expectation and still got disappointed, it’s just shitty. When you are doing a remake of one of the finest and most beautifully made animated movies in cinema it has to be exceptional at least go all in and don’t be lazy. From the cast to the the cgi is just omg..... . Pissed is an understatement, I feel ripped. Even the Aladin remake was more interesting and fulfilling. Lion king wasn’t even making an attempt at all, the cgi had a really slow looking energy to it that just made the movie dry and lifeless. Every scene I was patiently hoping and waiting for something that would give me the impression that they were trying and honestly what I got was boredom and felt nothing. The acting for starters was just so disappointing, the lines read just sounded so tired and lacking enthusiasm and everyone sounded like they were just generically reading off script with zero emotion. Only Timon and pumba just managed, managed o.. to make me feel something, The rest was zero. Let me not even start with James Earl Jones (Mufasa) , he sounded really tired on his lines which shouldn’t be because these are lines you are familiar with!! You voiced the first one for crying out loud, like I just feel like sitting down on the floor and just cry . I just find it annoying that they got him back to reprise the role and didn’t bother to bring the rest back. What happened to Whoopi Goldberg, like I missed Chenzi Marie’s voice so much I nearly cried when I saw the dry performance of the hyenas. If they really wanted to toggle people’s nostalgia by recasting James earl Jones, they should have at least gone all the way in with it instead of Casting Beyoncé as Nala because she’s a big time celebrity and leaving out real talented actresses for that epic role. Then going back to the CGI, God I feel like just flogging all of them with wooden spoon for ruining my childhood. The CGI failed completely and woefully in recreating what the original 2D movie had. The creators were trying so hard to make the CGI look as realistic as possible that they completely watered down the whole movie to a lifeless emotionless piece of bull crap. I’ld have felt better just watching NatGeo Wild. The expressions in the 2D animated version was the joy, and they killed it.. 90% of the movie, their expressions were flat and sombre and they had this blank dry stares and the movement of their mouths were heavily restricted and were they were supposed to smile or feel scared or be excited or happy, they just carried that same photorealistic look on their face just because they were trying to make it look realistic. Who send you? I mean didn’t you guys see Detective Pikachu As realistic as they did it, they still found ways to put the emotions of the characters. The movie had energy and life and even more convincing because they were able to use a style that allowed them to be more expressive. The original lion king wasn’t made to be realistic, it was made to be a cartoon and loved by all. This is just shit abeg and I’m pissed. Even the long live the King scene (death of Mufasa) was so uneventful and dry that I missed were Scar said Long Live the King because he did it casually. You can imagine, the greatest line of my childhood was said in such lacklustre and lackadaisical manner. Don’t even get me started on the way they totally destroyed Scar’s “Be prepared” song. Oh my God, please I just want to cry myself to sleep.

That scar and the hyenas song part pained me, I wouldn't lie

Kept waiting for them to do the parade

They watered down the hyenas comedy

We loved them funny

That was my only problem, loved Timon and pumba

Seth rogen is a legend, he kills any voice over work that he does, this man has been in almost all animated movies, he is so good

The graphics were solid, enjoyed the movie

Felt my childhood screaming in me

Only the hyenas being boring was bad for me
