I am strongly in your support on this request.

It is painful and indeed a gross negligence of duty to be out of duty post when a life is at stake. We love and respect our medical doctors but it is a deservice to the nation and indeed humanity to take for granted the confidence reposed on you in saving lives of people.

But when they owe us salary or when we work with substandard medical equipments, you won't bring out your dirty mouth outside to ask the government why. Ungrateful beings..
We can't die in the job.

I guess d whole issue started from d police... you guys blaming the doctor have no idea what d doctor was doing or wat errrand he went to.. you guys dont even knw if d doctor had a bigger issue at hand.. so we shudnt blame d doctor since we av no idea wt happened.. i tink our police force need more training on how to handle incidence of protest. Rubber bullet,water bullet or watever bullet dt wont cause death cud av been used..

Nigerians are intelligent but our educational system is rubbish. You can't give what you don't have. Doctors trained in Nigeria can hardly handle serious surgical operations. Don't get me wrong, it's not the fault of our graduates but rather the problem is from our educational system. You can't compare a doctor trained in Nigeria to another trained in the USA.

Some Nigerian doctors are something else

Our emergency response to everything in this country is too poor, be it fires service emergency response, security alert emergency response and above all medical emergency response. Assuming Mr Sunday Owolabi were to sustain that gun shot injury in USA, his life would had been saved, but in Nigeria they Will give you so many excuses till the person is dead. Which way Nigeria?

Most senior doctors working at Garki Hospital and every other hospital are consultants.

They operate at several hospitals, on call or per time, on consultancy basis.

That explains the reason the particular doctor was far away. We can not effectively address that challenge without improving the welfare and salaries of doctors; ensure proper and documented contractual agreement with the consultant doctors with identified controversial areas addressed; compelling doctors to keep to time and serve their time at their places of assignment.

The desire for material and monetary gains makes our doctors to prioritise remuneration and income above the ethics of their profession.

Sometimes, the challenge is also red taping, bulk-passing, bureaucracy and policy of the hospital management with respect to patient treatments. This is a matter that most of the hospitals, especially private hospitals, should review with a primary view to save lives.

Ultimately, this emphasises the need to widen the scope and penetration of Health Insurance acceptance and coverage in Nigeria. Every patient deserves to be treated without hesitation due to bills payable given that the human and material resources to administer the treatment are available or accessible.

If a doctor was meant to be on duty and was not around or within a minute or so distance on being reached by phone, that is unacceptable. It is wrong of you to think this is about compensation money. But again Nigerians "just take" things like that and let the dead be and the system suffers. Do you have sense at all?

Though Garki hospital turned blind eyes on Corper Ngozi who was shot at by a trigger-happy policeman last year, but her parents never came out to disturb my peace and that of their late daughter about any demand to probe this same Garki hospital even when they were not duely Compensated, Unlike Mr Ayo that has already gotten Alert.....

So what else does Mr Ayo wants even after he was credited with 1Million??

After parading himself like a lady on beauty pageant, he asked the nurse to ask us to go home and return on Monday with the sickness. I felt so bad.

Something irreplaceable has been lost you're not of 1m or even 100m?. Should more lives be lost because of such negligence. I'm sure the surgeon was attending to his private practice.

The boy should have been rushed to any big/standard private hospital nearby with in-house surgeons that are paid to always be on ground. They may be very expensive, but Channels TV or the boy's people could have negotiated payment terms.
Once it's past midday, you may not find Govt hospital docs on ground except they have a pre-arranged case(s) to attend to. Like scheduled surgeries.
After 12/1pm, most doctors close for the day or/and go to their private clinics or private hospitals they work for by the side. It's in the mornings you can find them.
It's just a pity Nigeria healthcare system is like this. Many die unnecessary deaths.

Blame the govt,IMN, and Channels that sent a copper to field instead of an experienced staff OK? You said he was stabilised. Who stabilised him? That tells you there were experienced hands on ground.
