The list largely discribes the human condition, which is why functioning nations all have in common functioning judicial system. Modern societies cannot rely on the product alone of primary socialisation such as manners derived from the family and ways of group coexistence began at school. It is to Nigeria's ethnic cultural socialisation great credit that Nigeria has survived so far virtually in the absence of law and order intrinsic in a functional judicial industry. No, for me the primary cause of Nigeria's lack of greatness is the same as that which is the cause of Africa and the black worlds lack of greatness and that is diminished presence of Imagination. The frightening thing is that even then, Nigerians seem to have more imagination than the other African and Black nations. |

This list is incomplete without fraud, drug pushing, prostitution, kidnappings, ritual killing, 419 etc. These has brought Nigeria's global brand to the muds. |

Weathered:These leaders, did they jump down from another planet? Are they not Nigerians? These leaders were once like you and I breaching the laws, behaving anyhow... so what do you expect when they get to the corridors of power. You are nursing a Child and you think you can take away bad character from him when he is grown... instead of taking him or her when he is still young If we Nigerians cant work on these attitudes and change, I am afraid we can never produce a good leader. That's the implication. We want good leaders.... where will they come from? Are they not going to come from us. We need to think and change. We are our own problem |

quentin06:Copying who? Who are the leaders? They were followers many years ago. It's like a circle. We are behaving like this because of our mindset. We need overhauling. We need to start speaking and correcting ourselves |

Make leaders first change their ways, Empower institutions that will work, proper renumeration for it's officers, maximum sanction for unethical practices. Nigerians will adjust. Nobody likes to comply rules including whitey |

Demzlent:How is it leadership when our attitude is bad. Take Nigerians to US and Bring Americans to Nigeria and watch what will happen. Nigerians with these bad attitude will easily destroy the country. And Americans will easily develop Nigeria. It is mentality issue. See, if we can change these attitudes first... our remaining problem which is systemic will easily be solved. With good attitude and a good system, even a bad leader will still perform. Then get this right,Nigeria cant have a good leader without first having good citizens. You need to think |

Government shud be able to investigate the source of wealth even if illegal let’s the government know how it’s gotten for accountability and promoting social and political values. People with shady or questionable sources shudnt be close to government and public service and funds. |

blacq2009:Exactly these are the problems. The mentality of I want to buy Benz without working to earn money legitimately is the problem. Nigerians want quick money. Something is not right with us. The government need to add attitude/behavioural acts as courses to our school system. People of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Someone who has been paying bribes in schools, offices etc will collect bribe when he gets to the position of leadership. That's how it is. Nigeria can't have a good leader without first having good citizens |

Ekpekus:But with our ethnicity/religion differences, even if the government did d right thing in sanction the offenders, those against their reign will surely come against them. |

flexyrule:Actually the problem is religion abuse not being too religious. There's no religion that asks a person to delay debts. And there's no religion that promotes laziness. I'm a Muslim and I have many things I discredit about Christianity but I'm certain that the Bible doesn't preach all of the above. The Christians follow their desires and then interpolate the scripture to suite their desires. |

Well, I will not entirely agree with this your view, a brother once told me that an average American didn't just obey the law, but because there is a system in place where by when you commit a crime of £5, you paid £1000 fine without any exclusion to anybody they were cause to obey the law. The problem is not the citizens it is leadership and the system. |

These are pedestrian issues. They won't make the country great. They are altruistic, but not going to lead to greatness. |

seunoj:We need to first change. We produce leaders. They dont jump down from planet Mars. With bad attitude even with good drainage system we will still soil it with nylon, bottles and co. Even if law enforcement agents are sent around to upload cleanliness law, they will still collect bribe and the who infrastructure collapses again. The little infrastructure we have, if we all obey the law and maintain them, you think it's not enough for us to boast of Besides what do you expect from someone of age 50 years who has been disobeying rules. It means the person must have been throwing plastic bottles into our gutters for like 45 years. It means he has been bribing for 45 years. It means he has been jumping queues for 45 years....in short he has been disobeying laws for about 45 years. Now he or she becomes a governor or president....so how will the person perform ?We need to correct the problem now. All these bad attitudes are exported to Aso rock and our governor houses. A leader can't perform with these bad attitudes. The fundamental problem is these bad attitude. A refined person who have a right mindset will not misbehave when he gets to power. Nigerians think and understand these things |

K1famous:The citizens produce the leader. We cant have a good leader without first having good citizens. I dont know if what the person said is true. But I know an American will not go to a country like Nigeria and drink pure water and throw the sachet on the road. They will not bribe also.... let's think. They have their problem and they are mostly immorality problem but for these bad attitudes..... they don't behave like us. We need to change our mentalities. |
