I have this close Nigerian friend that married an American woman. On the day of his Visa interview, the interviewer asked him only four questions about his American wife. Then the interviewer asked him if he had ever been married before. He said no, but the interviewer said they had evidence that suggests he had been or is currently married to another woman. The interviewer gave my friend his passport back and told him that he needs to prove he has not and isn't currently married to any other women. My friend is left with not knowing how he can prove he is only married to his American wife.

Does anyone know of any way he can prove he has never been married and is not currently married to any other women?
Please, only useful information, (government agencies, etc). Not looking for negative opinions or criticisms.

The embassy should be able to provide a certified proof of celibacy.... After checking in Nigeria that he is indeed single.

Shortly after I made the first posting on this issue, my Nigerian friend messaged me that the interviewer gave him a form that said mail me evidence and if he doesn't receive a response in 90 days, to call them. This situation has left me wondering how one could prove they are not and have not been married before. It seems to me that the US embassy has put the burden of proof on the immigrant without providing a process of verifications they would accept.

Hearing this for the first time.
if I am in his shoe,I will get 50 people to sign my proof and remember to write how you are related to them.e.g name of the person voulching for you,signation,your relationship to the person,occupation, traceable phone numbers and make sure your parents sign first,family members,pastor,friend,colleagues,neighour.

Then go to court to comfirm if one can have an affidavit to that effect.Even if am given an affidavit,I will still attach the first proof with it.

l think there's what is called SINGLE STATUS CERTIFICATE in Nigeria to show that you have not been married before, check with your local government area, if you are issued the certificate by your local government, l think the US EMBASSY might accept it as a credible government issued documents that states that you have never been married before
