Creating Activities For Creativity In Nigeria (article) by okemejames(op):
The development of a nation lies on the hands of those who love
creative change in their environments. Studies have shown that the
economic power of any nation is not measured by the natural resources
she possesses but the level at which she is able to develop due to the
creativity of her citizens. Germany, U.S.A, Japan, just to mention a
few are great epitome in this aspect.

Computers, automobiles, telephones e.t.c can't be made mention of
without bringing to mind creativity and at the same time boasting the
influence of the Nations they emerged from. This is the sole reason
why some countries will continue to be identified as developing
countries till they wake up and start developing minds by creating
activities lest they remain comsuming Nations.

To create activities for creativity simply means to set up avenues
that will lead to the discovery of creative minds that have not been
brought to light.

These search should be broadened so as to balance every aspect of
life ranging from Science, Art, Business, Agriculture e.t.c. Many
developed Countries started discovering their elites and creative
minds at their early age. This is popularly known as "Catch them
young". The big question is, who will be responsible for this task?
All these burdens can't be laid upon the shoulders of the government
alone. Private bodies and NGO(s) have great role to play here. It can
be seen from the perspective of their way of giving back to the
societies and also a medium and opportunity to woo citizens into
becoming a part of them as customers as in the case of banks,
telecommunication companies, producing companies and various
organizations.

A room for competition towards creativity in communities can only
be achieved when societies rise and adopt processes of solving
societal problems. It's mostly through competitions that the best is
known. Most organizations have kicked up in this aspect of organising
competitions such as painting, poetry, debate, mathematics, dancing,
singing and the likes of others and the winners are greatly and
handsomely rewarded. A wise saying goes like this "Appreciation beget
Repetition". When a child does something worthwhile and he/she is
appreciated, he/she would want to do more and even improve and we all
know the popular saying "Practice make perfect".

History recorded it that King Henry viii banned the importation of
used goods in England and the economy grew beyond imagination because
it activated their creative minds.

So, this is a wake up call for the Government of Nigeria, NGO(s)
and other private bodies in Nigeria and Nigerians in general to join
me in creating activities that will encourage creativity in Nigeria.
This avenue will majorly bring an end to youths roaming the streets
and engaging themselves in malicious activities like arm robbery,
prostitution, scamming e.t.c which in return have some negative
effects not only on lives but also tend to soil the good name of the
Nation Nigeria.

Thank you.
