Not sure when he was born. Well I say that because it's mostly rastas I hear playing his songs. I don't think he's even gotten a lifetime achievement award at the SAMAs.

Okay, his life biography states he was conceived in 1964 and it's absolutely shocking he's never scoped any music award before despite his legendary songs.I think his 2007 premature death deterred him from bagging some awards.

I have a question for you, do you south Africans listens to east African songs?

No, not really. Your artistes' actually need to work on that because East Africa has some hidden gems. I particularly like Eddy Kenzo's songs, which I came across by chance on YouTube.

Okay great.

What music is popular in Kenya? By that I mean your own. I really don't know why artistes over there aren't marketing themselves or doing collabos with other artistes, outside your region.

Okay here the most popular artists are Sauti sol band, Papa Dennis, Nyashinski, khaligraphs jones, octopizzo, king kaka and among others.
Some of them like Sauti sol, nyashinski, khaligraphs etc have scooped several music awards like BET and AFRIMMA.
In fact, khaligraphs won the best rap act 2018 BET awards.
They've as well participated in the coke studio too.
Some of our artists have done collabos with some Nigerian artists before.
But sauti sol is the most popular African band, khaligraphs too is gaining popularity in east, central and some western parts of Africa.
How comes their popularity is almost zero in south Africa?

Sauti Sol...that name sounds familiar. I believe they've done a collabo with someone here. I'll have to look it up. See, that's the thing, I didn't even know they were Kenyan but the name is not completely unknown. Tbh, I can't answer why your musicians aren't a household name here, because it's not like we have a beef. Kenyans are our biggest supporters in music, if YouTube comments are anything to go by. It remains a mystery

Am not quite sure if Sauti sol band has ever done a collabo with any south African artist unless you comb me more of the same.
Of course we don't have any beef with south Africans cheesy but our music upcoming though, the problem with most Kenyans they like listening to foreign music too much without feeding the local content.
