The fine is exploitative, oppressive and burdensome , considering the economic situation of the people. |

Flier:Government in Nigeria operates on the premise that ordinary citizens are slaves, who only exist at the pleasure/convenience of the political class. That's why they keep screaming about tax while >20℅ of the labour force is unemployed and the rest are on starvartion wages. Of course they know that more than half of all these taxes and abnormally high penalties will be stolen by themselves and their subordinates in the civil service. Monkey dey work, baboon dey chop. |

Flier:thats the whole idea. they dont want poor people driving. they are trying to decongest the roads and poor people should take public transportation. so many poor people will start having their cars impounded and crushed and the metal sent to china to produce new cars. this is a way of getting old cars of the street because anyone who has a new car can afford to rescue his car when it is impounded but someone with an old car will decide its cheaper to let them keep the old car which is not worth anything compared to 60,000 fine. its a wise strategy. barbaric but wise. decongest the road as well as keep old raggedy cars off the street. |

wallezee:Crazy figures man, 9months and they've made around #300million....I think it's actually a good development tho, discipline need be taught some way. Only how these funds are thereafter appropriated is what matters, if they can have an open database where these figures are uploaded to realtime and the populace can access unrestricted. Only when we know how monies move in and out can there be a guarantee for necessary counter misappropriation measures, otherwise these is just some people's brilliant business project. -Lloyd |

OP, We get it! Lagos is trying to automate enforcement and road safety. Majority of cars on Lagos roads are violators, so there is enough volume that if govt will bring down the penalty from 20000 to maybe 1000 per infraction they would still rake in very high income per month. At rate of 1000 per infraction they can make a cool million naira per day. Lekki Toll gate does not receive all traffic in Lagos and they make over 5million per day in revenue. This automatic ticketing system can achieve similar. Govt must be lenient, 20000 is too high and will be an hardship sef. |

This cannot be completely correct because we have cars that ply such road from other states and does their renewal from other states. So will you say they don't have their papers complete because they renewed in other state they reside? |
