According to news reaching us, the Academic staff union of polytechnics (ASUP), Poly Unwana chapter, has embarked on an indefinite strike.
This is coming after one of her members, Dr John Ibiam moved a motion for the chapter to embark on the industrial action over non payment of Peculiar Academic Allowance (PAA) for 27 months by the school management!
The Rector Ven Ibe Enwo however was there and pleaded with the union. He promised to pay that of one month out of the 27 months owed, but the union members refused.
Voting was done and a 37 as against 35 votes were casted in favour of the strike!
The publicity secretary of the union confirmed the strike by sending Bulk sms to members which read:

I'm directed to inform all members that ASUP in congress has declared an indefinite strike. This is sequel to the inability of mgt to offset the 27months of PAA owed staff. Consequently,all academic activities are hereby withdrawn pending when all our agitations are fully met by mgt.

Academic staff were advised not to engage in any academic activities including: lectures, project/seminar supervision, departmental/academic board meeting and more.

27 months! God have mercy. If the lecturers resort to alternative which is allowing students to sort them after exam, the school management will quickly sack the lecturer if he/she is caught. So, management how do you want your staff to survive?

This is what you get when you have docile masses. 27months and kept quiet. Why didn't they wait till its 36 months. And the Oga that promised 1 out of the 27, fear God na. Nigeria and her shitty leaders and absolutely docile useless followers... Smh

How can you remember your 27 months plight because you were asked to enroll with IPPIS for proper payroll system,ASUP leaders to me feel there age would be detected with the exercises as Old age is there greatest misdemeanor.
