I think that argument came from an angle of "why leave a good paying job for a show you are not certain you'd win".
You may want to run away from your job but certainly wouldn't leave it for a show you are not sure of winning.

This is actually the misconception I wanted to address. See, the decision to go into the house is a gamble because it’s a winner takes it all show (well except for the side attractions). And to succeed in life, one has to be willing to take some risk, depending on the level of one’s risk appetite. I have friends who have left their jobs for uncertainties, not for a new job or marriage or relocation, but because they just feel the need to do something different before they run out of time. One just left the banking industry after 5years to pursue his music career.

I have also had colleagues who chose to pursue their passion - catering and event management, fashion designing, photography, etc. At the point of leaving, some people tried to discourage them, some made it clear that they were making the biggest mistake of their lives. But guess what? majority of them exceed expectations.

Some opportunities are once in a life time, just like Omatshola keeps saying. Jeff can always get a better job or not, the little exposure may bring him greater opportunities or not. But the truth is no one can tell the outcome of his decision yet, so i think it’s rather hasty to conclude he miscalculated or made a wrong decision by leaving his job. And it doesn’t have to be showbiz really. Some of these housemates return to their private hustle after ticking the big brother bucket list.

I can excuse those that went into fashion designing, catering and all but leaving job for Music to me is a terrible decision.

I agree it is too early to conclude Jeff miscalculated but unless he gets himself on track asap, he will have some problems picking himself up.
