Dear All,

Please, how long does it take to clear a car at the port ? My car got to Naija last week monday and the Agent is yet to clear it.

He said they are yet to offload the vessel, I find it a little bit difficult to process the fact that a vessel with goods would arrive at the port and it would be left for days without offloading, sounds very irresponsible.

is my agent telling a lie ? or it is the way the port works ?

The shipping was via RORO oo

If you know the name of the vessel it came on, contact other agents on here to find out if the said vessel if yet to offload...

Do you know the name of the vessel ?

Will help you check for free if its still at the port or it has set sail.

I'm also a clearing agent. it takes about a 1 to 2 days to be discharged since it's via RORO. in all a good agent should not spend more than five working days to exit a car via. Five Days from date of arrival of the vessel. From the date it was discharged, a good agent should attempt to exit the car within three working days. If you still feel like knowing more concerning the discharge you can send me the vessel name.

How do I know check the name of the vessel, not sure this is stated on the bill of lading. In addition, I was using grimaldi to track and since the vessel got to Naij, when I input the VIN and shipping number, nothing comes up on the location of the vessel.

The ship's code appears on the tracking info.. The alphanumeric 6 character. Something like GSL519 is for the ship Grande seirra Leone...

Though there are unscrupulous agent likewise good.


It takes minimum of 2- 3 days to clear out a car at the port .

Give your bill lading prior to ETA of a vessel.

Valuation is done immediately .

Payment of duty

Releasing from customs
.
Terminal delivery order / exit from the port

Unless there is a systemic problem.

Server problem and all that
