OGA KOICE abeg u fit help me stop this TRAVESTY!!! I know say u be tech guy. Pls help needed here.

Any tech person here pls am in need of your help.

Android OS has a feature that allows your app to run in the background even when you're not using them, and any time there is an active subscription, those apps will "borrow" some of it without your permission.

To solve this is very simple; simply go to settings and activate the "restrict background data" feature. Your data hungry apps should stop eating up your data after this.

I have tried this. It seems as if it doesn't work. In my old Nokia Android phone I could turn off background data for all apps with a single tap, but my new Tecno smartphone and it's Google Android 9.0 pie OS doesn't possess a one-for-all button to switch off background data, rather you can turn off background data individually for each app.

Besides the Google play services consume my data in foreground not even background. Apps which consume large amount of data in background have been turned off i.e YouTube, Instagram. But play services still find a way to update. Even when I have turned off Back up and sync to Google drive.

And mostly what Google play services does is that it updates and sync my Google account, contacts, apps, apps data and so on and OTA update. It sent me new security patch update for August 5 this morning at around 01:00am I updated, but why the heck is it still updating this afternoon after sucking all my data.

Am really angry man, seriously. angry undecided

If background data restricting your apps doesn't stop the usual suspects, then you must undergo a couple of troubleshooting procedures to trace the problem.

- If your phone is rooted, install titanium backup and proceed to freeze the chief data consumers.

- If your phone is still losing data, Install Kingmaster. Scan your phone and background restrict your apps in-app.

- If this fails too, then you've got a malware, and need to purge your system. Backup your apps, and factory reset.

It requires a simple fix.

Go to Google play store settings and set your auto update feature to update over WiFi only.

Okay, it would have been easier if rooted. But doesn't matter, I've a solution...

Go to the application manager in your phone settings and disable the trifecta of Google play Services for Instant Apps, Google play Services and Google play, or launch google play and set it to wifi update in-app.

It should solve your data problem.

You couldn't have said it better, I found the movie to be like poetry and I honestly can't remember the last time a movie scared me like this one, movies like the Exorcist and the shining were like comedy to me, but Cape Fear gripped me in fear.
You and alexistaiwo must be members of the same cult. How can somebody say The Exorcist is like comedy to him? Next thing, you'll say The Conjuring universe is your favorite sitcom.

Bro, some of us have mastered control over our emotions and it will take more than a make believe horror movie to faze me.

The day I lost my mum, I shed zero tears and I was calm throughout, even made out time to watch Madrid vs A. Madrid UEFA final 2014 (doesn't mean that I wasn't in pain).

Master your emotions and 90% of your life problems will be gone.

I wanted to dislike the movie too, especially when I saw the choppy editing and odd camera angles, but then I remembered that this is a Scorcese movie. I also began paying attention to the soundtrack and wack sound effects (it seemed familiar at first), and then I realized "hey, this is like those thrillers of old!" EVERYTHING you see in that movie is deliberate to resemble old Hitchcock classics which makes it seem like a low budget production, which it isn't.

The dialogue in itself are full of insight into the human nature.
All what you said is true, but if De Niro had been a supernatural entity, may be then I would have loved or may be liked it, but not when he's fvcking human with a massive ego and revenge agenda.

The only person who thrilled me was Juliette Lewis, I mean for an 18 year old then, she sure did play the part of an adventurous 15 year old superbly.

To think she's the one in Tarantino's Dusk Till Dawn wowed me the more.

But if you really mastered your emotions, then why are you sometimes pained by my folly on this thread?

Lol. U dey see wetin I dey experience. As for me after this phone I will never buy a Tecno ever again. I was always a Nokia guy but switched as Nokia was crippling without joining the Android bandwagon.

But nah, it ain't got to do with phone brand. It's Google Android OS that's the problem.

It seems as if this thing has a mind of its own. The mumu shit still sent me another system update after I have done that already this morning worth over 616mb!!

Is it just me or this is general

Also I noticed that when play store send me apps updates, I update it and after 1-2 weeks after update I still see another update available again!! Is that how fast updates are pushed these days?

Generally updates should take at least 4 weeks to 6 weeks for next update (as far as I know) but recently some apps defies my logic. Most especially Facebook, Messenger, YouTube, WhatsApp etc. Is it normal? Because I very well know I've updated these apps to latest update within the last 9 days.

I don't know if it's because I love to have the latest updated version of my most used apps that's why Google playing with my fvvking mind.

Only one way to solve this; root your phone, install Titanium Backup, backup and freeze (disable) your push service feature. I dunno the Tecno name, but it's called Samsung push service in my android device. The downside of disabling your push service feature is you will stop getting system updates and whatnot.

To consolidate, also disable your Ant radio service. Then Google play. That's it.

But you'll need to root your phone to have root access.

On second thought, leave the Ant radio service alone. Disabling it might cripple your internet receptions.

Incidentally, it is a remake. It’s one of those movies I had read about and had been meaning to watch. Watch the French connection. That movie was also celebrated in its time. For some cray reason, when I watched the movie (back in 2009 or 10, my media player remote died. It put me off finishing the movie. Also watch mad max the road warrior. That was the seminal movie for all those desert apocalypse black leather crazy hair movies. Do not bother with the first mad max. Not much there. Mad max 3 is okayish, but I did not finish it.

My condolences on your mum's passing.
Watching the movies themselves is not the problem. The problem is my overactive imagination that the movie feeds. Basically, I'm actually the one scaring myself and even though I know this, I can't help it. It's just part of me.

@ Koice, Alexistaiwo and co.... I think I've found the murdafvvker responsible for my misery cheesy

Notice the screenshot below in special app access: 2 apps have unrestricted access to data. I've always searched for this pipe squeak but couldn't find it cause it is a system app and would not show up if I checked it, because system apps were hidden. Just unhide system apps and I find the suspected CULPRITS ---[ Download Manager & Downloads]. Cuz anytime I noticed play services doing its shit I almost always see Download manager in my notifications tray downloading some crap I don't know of.

That's one of the major reason I don't like the latest Android version ie Android 8.0 Oreo and 9.0 Pie because it's way more complicated than previous versions and not simplistic as the others. Too many loads and boatloads of functionality and duplicates unlike previous one which was straight forward.

I hope this is the end of my data issues.

Imagine spending half my night time and a whole day browsing and querying how to solve my data issues on different platform, eg quora, Google, xda and others. Hope this ends.
