Jeffrey Epstein, the financier who was long dogged by accusations of sexual abuse of girls and was able to cultivate a stream of celebrities as friends despite his lurid lifestyle, killed himself in his Manhattan jail cell, officials said on Saturday.

Law enforcement officials told newsmen that he was placed on “suicide watch”, but got successful on his second attempt. Mr. Epstein hanged himself and his body was found at roughly 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan



The 66-year-old accused of arranging to have sex with girls as young as age 14 in the early 2000s at Epstein’s residences in Manhattan and Florida, has been held without bail at the Metropolitan Correctional Center. Though he pleaded not guilty to the charges, a judge said he wouldn’t face trial before June 2020.

This is quite surprising. Didn't think he could do this, since he has been escaping previous allegations and even trials, by using star-studded lawyers to confuse the judges.
