Re: Stop Calling Your Mum "MUMMY" by traihit: 11:40pm On Aug 10, 2019
Op is it your mummy? These days nobody care about Egyptian embalmed bodies again. When you say 'mummy', everyone knows you're talking about your mother and that is the basic function of any language. So let 'mummy' be.

All these clever by half and dimwitted "Òmùgọ́s" we have prowling nairaland these days, sigh.

"Mummy" is simply the British spelling of the word, while "Mommy" is the American way of spelling it.

While it is true that the English spelling (Mummy) also refers to an embalmed corpse, it is also true that context matters when we use words. If I say:

" I met Kunle's mummy in Church today" only an idiot would think I was referring to meeting a dead corpse.

American English and British english.

They're both correct
Re: Stop Calling Your Mum "MUMMY" by Cutealexio(m): 7:46am On Aug 11, 2019
Always do some findings before posting. The difference is why one is American English the other is British English.. Mummy has two meanings just like we have a lot of words like that in English

Mum / Mummy - British English
Mom /Mommy - American English
They're both correct, just that Mummy also stands for embalmed corpse
