This morning I watched a sort of documentary about a Chinese boy that was sent to supervise a solar plant in Morocco and he met and fell in love with a Moroccan, they were so cute, he understands very little of their language, he can't even speak it and she also doesn't understand Chinese so they communicate in English, lol the worst part is his English is like 3/10 and hers is like 7/10 and heavily accented and they still managed to communicate, he proposed to her in his sparse English and it was the cutest thing and I'm like yassss I want to have a broken English marriage with minhyuk too, I am so ready, minhyuk-ah finish your service and come and propose to me in half baked English, I love you so much

I've caught up on all my dramas so I'm watching a 2 episode drama; everything and nothing and it's really interesting! I just finished the first episode and things are happening

I've finished the last episode now (ep2) and wow. This is one of the reasons why I'm selling my kidney and getting a hysterectomy ASAP. There are so many levels to parenting and a lot of people aren't qualified, at all. Playing with the lives of their children as if they're not human beings. Sigh. This drama was really good. And it's short so you can finish it in 2 hrs, max. Well done to all the amazing child actors and actresses out there. Acting better than some people's oppas

Everytime I hear a Kpop song in an American TV series, I literally freak out, happened when I heard iu in one series I don't even remember, happened when I heard blackpink on the bold type and recently when I heard bts on euphoria lol, it's always as if I got one major achievement, but no one can beat the day I watched beast's song on soundcity, oh boy I screamed so hard my mom threw me out and I was even cooking (thank God say e no burn, I for dey live under bridge by now). Sometimes I still casually flip to soundcity to see if they'll play a K-Pop song but so far, no luck, I wonder if the vj was high, or maybe he/she got fired for playing K-Pop lol

I agree with her completely.
It is racism and we should call it so.
It's great that everyone realized that Koreans don't look alike after a while and it's okay to mistake a face you're not familiar with even now (it still happens to me), with one that you are but it doesn't change the fact that the entire phenomenon at the initial stage wasn't just confusion, it was RAC*SM.

In Nigeria, we are grown rac*st to NON-WHITE people.
If you're honest with yourself, at one time or the other you've referred to a Lebanese or Chin.ese or Korean as "yellow" or "escape from white" or some other funny but derogatory term. You'd also realize that you've NEVER said this about someone "convincingly white enough", say American or European.
If you have ever paid attention in a shop you'd notice the difference between how both groups are treated at the counter also.

While it's great that our exposure to Korean entertainment has helped change this "very st*pid" upbringing, if we do not call this action by what it is then we too have failed.

Obviously, just a small group on nairaland can't change years of "wrong, unconscious training" but it can mean that your immediate world of contact comes to the same realization you have.

There was never a time that the members of your favorite band looked alike, as you've come to realize, and the ONLY REASON you ever thought so is because WE WERE GROWN RAC*ST TO NON-WHITE people.

I'll end like this, DID YOU EVER THINK THE MEMBERS OF ONE DIRECTION OR WEST LIFE or your favorite western band LOOKED ANYTHING ALIKE?

For me, this was fun because some parts felt like a parody in the beginning.

It was silly, the edits were playful, some parts were pointless, there were some emotional elements, some parts were stupidly clever.....hahahhahahahha.....it was just fun kind of.

The only thing I didn’t really like was that they used white paint on my HyunMin’s face, they haven’t learnt anything yet (they should have just dunked his whole head in bleach as I also wonder what they did to his hair)...I guess they can’t afford Fenty.

It is not horrible overall.

I watched without subs so there are some clips I would love to see again when it is subbed but I did understand most of it.

Well I understand your point but I speak for myself when I say I couldn't differentiate the members of westlife initially, maybe it's cos I was a kid and more into the songs than the singers sha but I really couldn't differentiate them, and I've never called an Asian yellow, not even as a joke, but again that's just me and I get your point and I know I'm a little bit racist to whites sha(not like I hate white people, I love every race) but since I was a kid, whenever I watch reality shows I root for the blacks, Latinos and Asians before the whites, I refer to it as my unintentional bias, I guess that's what watching roots almost every weekend as a kid will do to you.
