Mike was not faster. I believed the laces were rigged to favour Mike. The way Mike undid the first shoe lace, it showed it was not tied beyond the first pair of holes, while sir d's shoe lace was laced through all the holes. Mike simply pulled the shoe lace and it just came undone. That was exactly what happened in the initial challenge. The first lace came undone with a simple pull.
