Many job seekers today send out lots of applications via emails for role openings in different firms without getting either a feedback from the recruiting firm whether they're being considered for the role. Some applications dont get opened weeks (sometimes months) after they've been sent. Mail Track can help job seekers and other email users follow up on their sent mails and more.

About the App: Mailtracking

MailTrack is a free browser extension for the Chrome web browser launched in 2014 that tracks if recipients have read email messages that you sent using Google's email service Gmail.

What does it do?

– MailTrack adds double check ✅✅ marks to your email software for an easy email tracking solution.

– Know if your recipient has actually read your message, like you would with Skype or Facebook Messenger.

– Email tracking is for everyone, and it’s especially useful for professionals.

The Chrome extension is available on the official Web Store and can be installed right from there.

How to install Mail Track to your email account:

Send tracked emails from smartphone (Android only)

1) Search for 'Mailtrack' on your phone or in the Chrome browser on your computer.

2) Open the Mailtrack website and Press or click the 'install' button.

3) Select the email account you want to use to send tracked emails.

4) Press or click on the 'allow' button to accept the permissions.

5) If the install has been successful you should receive a confirmation message saying that Mailtrack has been installed.

6) Re-start Gmail on your phone or PC. The extension works in the background from that moment on.

7) Note that the mark sign(s) only display on web browser but you will get a mailtrack notification about opened mails on your phone.

If you open the Gmail web interface, you will notice that it adds read indicators to some emails that resemble WhatsApp's indicators✅✅ that are displayed when you sent messages using the mobile app.

Two green checkmarks ✅✅indicate that a message has been read, and while checkmarks✅ are displayed for messages that have been sent, they won't benefit from the feature because of how it works.

You do not need to do anything on your part to track whether your emails are read by recipients or not. Note that this only works if you compose them on Gmail directly, and not if you use third-party software or services to do so.

It is interesting to note that MailTrack tracks every time an email gets opened. When you hover over the confirmation icon on Gmail, you will receive a date and time list when that email has been opened by the recipient.

The bottom of your any gmail message you sent would indicate the presence of the tracker. You'll see a tick showing it has been received by the recipient. Double clicks if it has been opened by the recipient
