He was a doctor, a husband, a father, a reolutionist and a guerrilla warrior, He is Che Guevara.
Che Guevara was the son of a prominent Argentine Architect who got radicalised by withnessing the poverty and hardship in Latin America, he followed communist idiology and was famously known for participating in the victory of the Cuban revolution which ousted Batista. He served as a military adviser for Castro and headed the guerrilla squad which lead to the defeat of Batista. Che Guevara was heavily involved in the Congo war as a resistance fighter in 1965 but left after his band of fighters were defeated. In 1966 Guevara arrived in Bolivia and created a fifty man Army to oppose the Bolivian government as a revolutionist/guerilla fighter, with the help of the CIA Che forces began to suffer casualties to the Bolivian army until his fighters were unavailable to put up a formidable resistance, he was wounded in a vicious assault by the Bolivian army and was captured in October 1967, after which he was executed.
Even in death Guevara still remains an Icon and Idol to guerrillas in Latin America and throughout the world, Timoshenko a Farc rebellion commander see him as a hero, Prabakaran the Tamil tiger leader of Sri lanka once said "there are only three people I have lived my live to respect, God, Alexander the great and Che Guevara". Guevara who has gained more popularity for his tactical abilities on jungle warfare, has been graced with so many names by his admirers, some of those names include,
1. god of jungle warfare
2. General of the forest
3 guerrilla warrior
3. dios de Guerra (god of war)
4. King of revolution
5. Guerrilla hero.

@mysticwarrior, I do not believe that Ché left the Congo simply because he and his "band of fighters were defeated".

Ché left the Congo due to a plethora reasons. For one, his comrades/allies in the Congo[the Simba rebels] were part of the reasons that informed his decision to quit the Congo. According to Ché, the rebels were incompetent, intransigent and completely disunited[sometimes they fought against each other] due to the incompatibility of their various ideologies. What's more? The Simba rebels also practised in "voodoo" to ward off bullets.

So, pretty much, Ché's Congolese allies and[not the enemies] were the very ones who frustrated him out of the Congo. He couldn't keep up with their antics.

Saying he was forced out of the Congo due to defeats suffered is rather too simplistic.

I might be back later in the day to expantiate fully on this... Till then.

Well, one thing i know about Marxist revolution is that it grows out of the acutness of class antagonism. Revolutions cannot be made to order they take place as a result of internal and logical revolutionary processes happening in a country, engendered by class antagonism. Orthodox Marxist ideas don't support pushing revolutions to other countries, what Che Guevara did in Congo and Bolivia. Though he died for what he believed in. His ideology of pushing revolution to ther countries formed the basis of "Guevarism".

The victory he, Castro and other revolutionaries achieved in Cuba was different to what he went to do in Congo and Bolivia. Ordinary Cubans were tired of the US backed dictator Fulgencio Batista and were ripe for the rebellion. Even after the success of the Cuban revolution all attempt made by US to counter the revolution failed. Che Guevara forays into Congo and Bolivia was a big mistake, he was ready to die though his life meant nothing to him.

"I don't care if I fall as long as someone else picks up my gun and keeps on shooting" -Che Guevara

that is what Guevara made the world to believe for his inability to succeed in Congo, Che would have considered it a shame for him to be captured or killed in African soil, excuses could always be produced to justified reasons for failure and that is exactly what Che did.
