El-zakzaky Attempted To Seek Asylum In India – FG by IamHeWrites: 6:06pm On Aug 16, 2019
The Federal Government has alleged that the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, tried to seek asylum while in India for medical treatment.

The government said this on Friday in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Grace Gekpe.

El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenah, returned to the country around noon on Friday and landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Igbere TV reports.

The Federal Government said El-Zakzaky exhibited acts of misconduct which necessitated his repatriation.

“With total disrespect and complete loss of decorum for international procedures while in India, he initiated contacts with a team of lawyers led by Ali Zia Kabir Chaudary and Gunjan Singh in that country,” the statement began.

“He also contacted some Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), such as the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) and other Shiite groups. His aim was to seek asylum and eventually relocate to another country.

“It is important to note that if an Indian court had granted El-zakzaky asylum or leave to travel to another country, it would have violated the Nigerian court order that granted him permission to travel for medical treatment.

“However, he used the opportunity of being in India to attempt to internationalise his cause by mobilising the Rights groups. Even most unfortunate and rather embarrassing as earlier stated, was his quest to be relocated to a 5-Star hotel to receive visitors instead of being admitted in the hospital as a sick person he claimed to be.

“In spite of his misconduct, El-zakzaky’s spouse went further to antagonize the Indian and Nigerian security agents and accused the latter of killing her children. These acts were aimed at winning international sympathy as well as disparaging the Nigerian Government. Having subordinated the quest for medical treatment to other ulterior motives, it became obvious that El-zakzaky was focused on realising some sinister motives thus the decision to return him to Nigeria,” the statement said.

El-Zakzaky and wife are now being held by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The IMN says the Federal Government tried to kill its leader in India.

He was not sick in the first place he only wanted to abscond to Iran and start causing havoc from there.

He is not bigger than Nigeria

I am waiting for what those who were pestering FG to release him will say now that he was granted bail and he refused to stay in India for the so called medical treatment he said he wanted.

With his failed traveling to India. He will surely lose some sympathizers. Someone who claimed to be seriously sick spent the few days receiving visitors instead of getting medical help. Seems like He made up how mind to come back to Nigeria when it became clear to him that India will not play along with him. With this attitude the FG will now use maximum force on any group trying to protest on his behalf.

What is the reason he was denied access to his own doctors?

The IHRC has been following this case since. They even visited him in Nigeria. Indian Shi'ites have been protesting in his support since. If he wanted asylum, why did he agree to return? Why didn't Shi'ite groups in India lobby their government or lodge a case in an Indian court to hear his asylum plea?

It is obvious the government feels embarrassed that the news is spreading that someone sent for treatment was denied access to his doctors and presented with a set of doctors he had no foreknowledge of.

Send this man to go and get the needed medical attention. Let him treat his one eye left and remove the bullet fragments in his body. We don't want him to die in government custody. We also don't want more interruption in our daily lives in Abuja and threat of protests and violence and stray bullets.

Why is the government detaining his wife with him? Does she not have her own fundamental human rights? Why won't she cry that her six sons were killed? Is that true or not?

Please dash this man to another country through a solid agreement he shouldn't interfere in Nigeria affairs. Let him stay away and let us rest.

Don't curse yourself. Are you wishing to be in his state of health? He has bullet fragments in his body causing lead poisoning that could result in organ failure. I don't know what this government is keeping such a liability in custody for. The man is already broken.

Did FG force him to refuse treatment after his supporters fought for several months for him to be granted bail based on health grounds.
You people should shun sentiment and be truthful.

He and his group are claiming the government tried to assassinate him using unknown doctors in India. That's their claim. See the other thread on the topic.

The government should not even attempt to tell him which doctors to make use of because of his health condition and age and the sensitivity of the matter. Any mishap by the doctors, the government would carry responsibility. Let him choose his own doctors and let them treat him or kill him. That would be his business. Why drink panadol for another man's headache?

He had ulterior motives by insisting in staying in an hotel instead of hospital.

Keep quiet, a patient with bullet in his body causing lead poisoning will not be bothered about the names and identity of the doctors that will take away the pains in him. Not everyone in Nigeria is brain dead like PDP supporters
