Open Letter To President From Kogi State Youth. by Onoja2016(m): 1:17pm On Aug 23, 2019
Dear Mr. President,

I write to you on this day, the 23rd of August, 2019 to express my deep concern on the current development and state of my dear State Kogi.

First and foremost, l wish to congratulate your newly appointed ministers and all the other cabinet members as they took their oath of allegiance on 21st of August, 2019. I wish them well in their respective duties in the next four years in office.

Your excellency Sir, my concern right from the Change Agenda to Next Level mantra is about my dear people of Kogi State. Mr President, you remembered vividly well in 2014 , right from the day you showed your interest in becoming the president of this nation till election and after election we were behind you solidly and voted for you vehemently for you to become the president in 2015, Your excellency, we voted for you out of love and not due to political interest, we ensured all other political office from the State Governor to Local Government Chairmen were won under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to avoid rivalry (opposition politices).

Mr President, with due respect Sir! I'm highly disappointed with the Ministerial portfolio you have been assigning to Kogi State that showed love unconditionally. In your first tenure, we were given junior Minister for Labour, Employment and Productivity, we never bothered, we voted for you vehemently again for your second tenure dreams to be actualised; Your excellency, I was astonished to see out of love we the Kogites have shown to still be given a seat of junior Ministery again(Minister of State, FCT). Under your watch was worrisome to me and my beloved sisters and brothers in the state. Your excellency we really appreciate your courage but, I think as an individual we deserved more from you as a love token in appreciation to be given a significant portfolio and the development of the state on the bases of infrastructure, building the Ajaokuta steel company that can create thousands of job for Nigerians and giving a close monitoring on how the allocation of the state is been disbursed because we really worked tirelessly for you in the last general election to see you succeed.

Your excellency, I just have few questions if you don't mind that demands us to know where we the Kogites have really gone wrong politically, Why not given significant quota both in your first and second tenure in the office, Why is there no federal infrastructure(s) in Kogi State, Why is Kogi State not benefiting from any empowerment programme from the Federal Government?

That being said, we would like to know what we must do for the atonement of our sins.

Finally to bring this open letter to a conclusion, I want to appeal to you your excellency and APC leadership to carefully and critically look into the state's well-being. It is so glaring that my people are wallowing in starvation, they are committing suicide unreportedly on daily basis because of lack of good governance in the state. I appeal to you and APC leadership to fill in a quality, credible, and a competent candidate in next governorship election irrespective of his or her tribe and ethnicity.

Kogi people are known for peace and love. The issue of security in the next state governorship election is hitting at the foundation of our great state and fast eroding root of our communities.

I'm very much worried and afraid that we are on the precipice and dangerously reaching the tipping point where it may no longer be possible to hold danger at bay.

We are also concerned about the desperation of politicians In the State and feel we cannot have confidence in the ability of the state government to conduct a credible election and provide adequate security for lives and properties. We sincerely need adequate security in other to curtail thuggery in the next state governorship election in Kogi State.

As a patriotic citizen who still strongly believes in the country and my dear state, I mean no harm and my feelings has no political, ethnic and religion affiliation in my open letter. I pray that; may almighty God grant you the wisdom, understanding, political will and the courage to do what is right and when it is right without fear or favour.

Thank you so much for your understanding even as we await your response to our plea.

Yours obediently,
Onoja, Enemona,
