In Nigeria, Politically exposed criminals are treated differently. NOT because of their tribes. But for political reasons.

Evans was not "politically" involved so the system "shined" with him. Not because of his tribe.

Ekweremadu was just a charge and bail Lawyer in Enugu in the 90's.

Luck smiled on him when his friend Chimaroke Nnamani, a medical Doctor based in America, returned to aspire to be a Senator representing Enugu West. As fate would have it , the then Godfather of Enugu politics, Chief Jim Nwobodo, decided that Nnamani should go for Governor instead of Senate. When Chimaroke won the Governor race, he appointed Ekweremadu his Chief of staff.

Shortly after, Nnamani fell out with both his deputy Governor, Okechukwu Itanyi, and Nwobodo and Ekweremadu became the virtual Deputy of Enugu state. He became fabulously wealthy and went to the Senate where he has been ever since.
