People might have similar experiences but they don't have similar brains. Certain people are more susceptible to developing insecurities and low self esteem than others. It all depends on the structure of a person's mind. 2 kids can be bullied and only one would develop insecurities as a result.

What I said has nothing to do with poverty. It's a behavior that arises from childhood and develops through adolescence and can occur in children and teens who grow up in both poor and wealthy homes. What's key is the exposure of the individual to neglect, abuse or bullying. (Again note that people react to these things differently and to varying degrees)

Apologies if it appears like I'm forcing Tacha down people's throats. I'm simply trying as much as I can to defend someone I love from criticisms that aren't well thought out.

I think there is a difference between being insecure as a result of bullying, neglect et al accruing from nurture and being unreasonable. People like Esther are probably the way they are because they grew up in the type of toxic environment you mentioned but Tacha is unreasonable. The day she was discussing her carry overs and how her friends refused to help her gave me a good idea of the type of person she is. While throwing her friend under the bus on international TV, she failed to realize that school is not about exams but how much knowledge of the subject under review you can exhibit during testing. Alot of her stories tow this same line, this lady really believes the world owes her something, her mannerisms reek of entitlement.
That's not a product of a bad environment, that's the product of a perceived ability to use her body to achieve whatever she wants which has made her grossly insufficient and wanting in core departments like sociability and emotional intelligence which are needed for survival. Handing her the dough is only going to reinforce her mentality.
But take a look at the Cruise Captain man. Come on! Do I need to type further? What readily comes to your mind? Class? I hear ya.

Tacha deals with her insecurities and low self esteem the second way.

Most of negative behaviors that Tacha expresses constitute a false persona that she's developed, which acts as a defensive wall. Only few people can be able to break through this defensive wall and experience the real person behind the false persona. Seyi has been the only one able to do this and hence why when he's with Tacha, you don't see her exhibit those negative behaviors.

When Tacha is with Seyi she's free and doesn't feel threatened because she trusts him, and hence doesn't need to "protect herself from him" by being unnecessarily rude, standoffish or combative.

I'm not trying to defend Tacha's behavior but as much as you find her behavior irritating, please understand that it's simply a defence mechanism and her walls of defence can break down if she's shown genuine friendship and develops strong bonds of trust between her and those around her. Now doing this in the Big brother house is quite difficult because Biggie's house is in essence a battlefield where friendships are fake and dishonesty & fakeness reigns supreme. This sort of environment actually appeals to Tacha's proclivity to be defensive and reinforce that false persona. It's going to be hard for her to break down those walls while in the big brother house, even if she wants to. She could manage for a few days but any slight perception of threat or betrayal sends her erecting those walls again.

I can't say I'm optimistic that Tacha's behavior would improve, but I can assure you that when the housemates are fewer and she's able to spend considerable time with everyone of them and develop stronger bonds of friendship and trust, she will shed off a lot of that false persona and would be more likable.

Most of you are watching big brother with a lot of emotions. Me am following and playing the game and that was why I voted Frodd this time. I have my favorites though but being entertained is more important to me than any other thing.
You guys should continue to rant about HM's behavior but that's far from the angle I see it. A lot of them do whatever they do because they feel that's what's keeping them in the house.

My argument is that during the week when the votes weren't revealed, Tacha and Mercy came tops. Reason being that every insider source hinted at it. And these same sources also accurately predicted the bottom two. Now we can say all the sources were wrong, but when they all echoed the same thing, then there is some validity to the claim.
