School Me Please. Does Nigeria Prison Allow Prisoners To Use Phones?

An old friend of mine who is in detention /remind /prison for theft (Stealing company's vehicle) since last year has been visiting Facebook lately, chatting and even uploading and changing DP. note : he's still on TRIAL.

There was a time in 2months he tried chatting with me but I refused. He kept texting and I was forced to respond to him. When I asked if he was out.. He replied No.

How did he get phone? He said God is working on his Favour.

Then he asked me to send my number that he was going to call me that night... I ran four forty and I have been avoiding him since then.

*Could that be him or somebody is using his account?

*Does prisons makes provision for phone for prisoners?
Guy he was wrong for stealing but like everyone he needs love, a friend in need is a friend indeed.

There is a network of corrupt prison officials in our prisons. They collect bribes from wealthy inmates and give them mobile phones and other special treatments while in detention. They always deny when confronted. Kuje prison in Abuja is an example. Sometime last year, a robbery gang leader in detention was coordinating his boys from prison via calls. The calls were traced to kuje prison but the whole matter later swept under d rug. The prison system is very corrupt.

His friend that stole Company property, its everybody's choice to either roll with criminals or not...
But people are still rolling with those who stole billions from our coffer??...Infact, working for them. So what difference does it make? The guy should hear him out whether in good or bad time.

My dad was an NPS officer but as at the time he retired, GSM has not come out and now he's late; he would have been the best person to ask if ATMs (awaiting trials) were given such privileges to make phone calls with land lines and Walky talky that was available then.

The only thing i can remember is when he was handling yaraduas case then when yaradua was in prison, was they were given preferential treatments and I think were allowed to use the then mobitel to communicate. I was quite small then so can't really give details but the only thing that is still clear in my memory was how the brothers used to dip his hand in his pocket to bring out wads of Naira notes without looking at it to dash us the children money then. That period sha!

Yes they do.

So many prisoners use phones in our Nigerian Prisons. I once had a client who had been sentenced to death and awaiting execution. He called regularly from prison and even sent messages every morning praying for me.

Poor boi...Why are you afraid??...stupid bad friend who can’t help his friend in time of need. #Spits
I am not a bad friend. My friend is. I took him like a brother, advices him, did the little I could do to help him as a friend before he commited that crime. That guy almost implicated me if not because of God's intervention. We worked in the same company. That's why I'm scared.

I am not implying that you did send him to steal

It's just the tone of the write up and your choice of words gave me this weird feeling.
Maybe I am wrong, can't be in your mind.

You're not a good friend.
He'll be out and free and Shame go catch u
I don't give a Bleep. I disowned him already. A friend who his mother got killed because of him. He was a member of secret cult...Dem wan come kill am for their house, he escaped but his mom couldn't. The poor woman was murdered in cold blood in place of her son. This happened way back before I knew him and we found out when he stole. A friend that stole my favourite Jean, cap, and shirts knowingly I didn't have more than 2 jeans. Is that a good friend. A friend that stay late outside and drink to stupor meanwhile, I don't take alcohol and 8pm, I'm Already in my house, a friend that disappears when he gets his salary but comes home once he had exhausted it then I ll start feeding him when he's back. All these I never complained for once. I rather advice him. Even as we speaks, non of his family has visited him in the prison. The last time I visited him, you needed to see the close markings the warder gave us. I am easy going and a struggling man. Make somebody no go send me to jail or early grave.
