I will not be surprised to see Nigerian politicians among the owners of the company. The contract was designed to fail in order to milk the external reserve dry. Jonathan government was a scam.
Are you guys dense or what?

What concerns GEJ Govt with the contract?

Oga, e sure me say you are not very good at reading and comprehension in your primary school days..how e take affect Jonathan now....read slowly and try to comprehend....its the fault cabals and yaradua since he refused to pass the Barton. Those that signed and did all the contract shit should be questioned
They know what they are doing

They are desperately trying to pin this on Jonathan but all evidence points to the fact that the contract was hurriedly put in place with a shell company and a fake Yar'adua signature was used to seal the deal.

This has all the hallmarks of the recycled cabal in Aso Rock who tried similar trick in 2017 with a $50bn NNPC gas pipeline contract when Buhari was away on medical leave in the UK.

Remember it was Kachikwu that raised the alarm that Baru sidelined both him and the them acting President, Osinbajo.

Osinbanjo also denied approving the contract and that is when Baru said it was approved by Buhari from his hospital bed even though Buhari had relinquished all powers to Osinbajo through a letter.

This is one direct penalty for weak institutions Nigerians may identify with and in such quantum all Nigerians will feel it. You just wonder sometimes how government is run in this country to such an extent that a single individual's incapacitation can bring a country to her knees.

But when rent seeking is the order of the day, briefcase contractors hold sway and to ensure their skeletons are kept well hidden, institutions are deliberately weakened, the bar is lifted, standards dropped and procedures bypassed.

This is the result. Today, the Chief of Staff himself is an institution of government business and docile, ignorant citkzens are cheering. Tomorrow another earth shaking bill they know nothing off will come to blank out what is left of the flickering candle of their humanity.

A forged contract was signed January 11 2010, and Jonathan was sworn in as acting President on February 9 2010, to be sworn in as substantive president on may 5, 2010. He was president until may 29, 2015, and you guys are asking "What concerns GEJ Govt with the contract?"
What stops him from cancelling the contract if he believed it was not a proper contract or execute the contract if he believed it was a good one, in all of 5 years he was president?

Most of the debt forgiven arose from accumulated interests on not servicing the loan.

Use brain!

If subsequent military juntas from Buhari up till Abdulsalami refused to pay any loan, do you think the debt will not accrue interests?

It was on this basis that Obasanjo appealed for debt forgiveness.

Note: The debt was forgiven and not that Nigeria never owed any debt in the first place.

Obasanjo did clear the original capital with additional penalties to get the over $40bn debt wiped out.
Please hear yourself, accumulated interest from where, on money in your Father’s account?

He actually cancelled the contract. Read the article in the OP.

It was this rejection/cancellation of the contract that made P%ID to take the case to arbitration.

For emphasis and from the article, GRJ knew nothing about the signing of this contract as it was the cabal controlling things during the exact time GEJ was shutout during Yaradua sickness that most probably signed it.

He actually cancelled it that's why arbitration asked Nigeria to pay compensation to the company. Nigeria was called out in investors conference because of this case.

The best thing now is for Mark, Buffet, Bill or Jeff Bezos to buy nigeria and use it as offline shop to sale anything and do other business.

They should just buy us, it will be more profitable...at least I will know I don't have a leader but an owner.

In as much as Nigeria may be liable, I do not think the judgment is fair. Telling a country to pay $9.6 bn as 'future profit' for work that has not been done is quite reckless and irresponsible from the judge.

If it was a Nigerian company against the British government the judge would never give such an award of almost $10bn.

If Brexit is giving them headache, they should face the EU or Trump and stop targeting defenceless 3rd world countries with stupid, reckless, and senseless judgments.

We must resist this at all cost.

My point exactly! The said company hadn't even commenced building the industry and are now filing to recoup a profit they might not even make in the future.

He was the VP in 2010 Jan when the contract was signed. Jonathan became the president in May 2010, he has all the capacity again to review the contract immediately he was sworn in as Commander in Chief. Fast forward to 2013, when the British company was awarded $9b as a result of Yaardua/ Jonathan government to keep with the contractual agreement . He had the whole 2 years again to re appeal / negotiate but he did not until it became so late in 2015.
let me continue the story for you, in 2015 our 'messiah' came and told the court that the new government is being formed and it has not taken shape yet that the court should grant us more time for us to form a Cabinet where our Minister of Justice/Attorney will oversee the case on our behalf.
Truth be told the present government at the federal level will blame anyone but themselves how this case has cascaded, the Asset that will be seize will not be Jonathan's, Yar'Adua or Obj but our country's assets. The story paints the picture how the situation started where a president traveled abroad without TRANSMITTING AUTHORITY but you choose to blame the VP at the time and you dragged all through his Presidency days and terminated at the point of our 'messiah' taking over office with the story that it was too late. In 2015 Buhari could have done better by forming his cabinet early enough but baba preferred to go-slow. You can blame Jonathan all you like, but na me and you asset them go seize EOD.

$9.6 bn for what exactly? Did we commit a modern slavery or are we the ones responsible for the Holocaust?

I really want to know the names and identities of the clueless Nigerian lawyers, who drafted this useless agreement or contract between the Nigerian govt and this Irish company, called P&ID. angry

I hear that company did not even construct anything in Naija including their own portion of the infrastructure, which was meant to have been done by their own team. shocked Yet, they still had the frigging guts to sue!

I want to know which Nigerian govt lawyer reviewed the contract and allowed those useless penalty clauses to be included in it. sad

I want to know the inept legal team that represented Naija during the arbitration process and the court proceedings, and were daft enough to allow us lose the case. undecided

I am waiting for someone to give me their names, so that I will know the kind of thunder I should invoke, to fire their heads and those of their ancestors! Nonsense and ingredients!! angry
