Types Of Spirits That Make Nigerian Youths Mentally Lazy And Unproductive by Amanee(f): 10:06pm On Aug 27, 2019
The recent clamp down on alleged Nigerian fraudsters in the US is no news to anybody. Cyber crime is obviously not a new thing in the Nigerian society that despite the harrasment, arrests and blanket manhandling SARS officials are meting out on Nigerian youths, it is a scourge that will not go away soon unless we all look inwards. People like Invictus Obi and Co were opportuned to leave the country and experience a better life abroad but they still chose a life of crime. This only goes to show that unless we look at what is wrong with us as youths and deal with it, we will always see a life of crime as the best. Its what happens when you bring a pig out of the sty and clean it up. If the change is not internal, the pig will always find a way to get dirty.

It is easy to point fingers at the government and blame poverty or the devil but its also important to note that when pointing out one finger, the rest always point backwards. So without further ado, let's examine the types of spirits that make Nigerian youths mentally lazy and unproductive.

1. Entitlement
This is the spirit that will make a healthy man of 30 sit at home with his aged parents and expect them to cater for his needs because they brought him to this world. It is what will make some youths fight over their parents hard earned cash, cars and properties fully expecting that it's their inheritance despite the fact that they practically do nothing to earn their own living. It is also this spirit that makes some Nigerian ladies turn a relationship to poverty alleviation program. My brother and sister, if you are a healthy 25 year old with no source of livelihood except someone else's hard earned cash, this spirit is obviously at work in your life. You don't need to visit a prayer house for deliverance, go and find something productive to do!

2. Copycat
This spirit is close relatives with greed, envy and covetousness. Your friend, Ernest, drives flashy cars, lives in a mansion, vacations abroad and has the hottest models hanging on to him and you want to be exactly like him. You don't care that the source of his sudden wealth is shady,
you are always in his DMs begging him to show you the way. My brother, he'll soon show you the way to FBI's most wanted list. The cure to this spirit is simple, be contented with your legit hustle even if it's not bringing much money today. Even the bible says, "do not despise the days of little beginnings..." Our elders were not foolish when they said, "a good name is better than riches. " Of what use will your money be to you when your family is turned away from receiving healthcare abroad like Ibori's wife?

3. Get rich quick
It's a sad reality that most Nigerian youths abhor hard work but prefer to reap in fields where they do not sow. And it truly does not help that the Nigerian society is one that glories in making fraudsters famous. We truly don't care how people make their money, we're only interested in the dollars they make rain at parties, the hard currencies their babies walk on, their flashy cars etcetera. This has made many youths involve themselves in get rich schemes that lead to their downfall. To cast out this spirit, learn to live within your means.

4. Desperation
This spirit is what makes women stay in bad relationships and end up in unhappy marriages. It is also behind young men involving themselves in fraud and screaming "get rich or die trying". Brethren, poverty is evil but don't allow it push you into situations you didn't bargain for. To cast out this spirit, check yourself and the motives for your actions. If you are always comparing yourself to your 'mates' that have achieved one thing or the other, stop doing that. Your mates are living under bridges and are even dead. Stop comparing yourself to others so you'll get into less problems and live longer.

5. Negativity
This is the spirit that makes Nigerian youths lose hope in Nigeria and hustling legitimately. Yes, Nigeria is backward with a lot of political and socioeconomic deficiencies. Yes, the milieu is tough on young entrepreneurs because the infrastructure is poor. But don't give up hope and lose your positive dreams to negativity. There are lots of young Nigerians who have succeeded and are still succeeding in their legitimate hustle. You are always seeing failure because you are mostly thinking about failure. To cure this spirit, stop speaking and thinking negatively about yourself and even Nigeria. Like someone once said, "you'll always see yellow buses when you think of yellow buses the same way you'll always see opportunities when you are thinking of opportunities ." Engage in something legitimate and be positive about it.

A word is enough for the wise.

Excerpts from This Great and True Thread....
Truer words have never been spoken.......

People like Invictus Obi and Co were opportuned to leave the country and experience a better life abroad but they still chose a life of crime.

It is easy to point fingers at the government and blame poverty or the devil but its also important to note that when pointing out one finger, the rest always point backwards.

Your friend is living large,
You don't care that the source of his sudden wealth is shady,
you are always in his DMs begging him to show you the way. My brother, he'll soon show you the way to FBI's most wanted list.

Your mates are living under bridges and are even dead. Stop comparing yourself to others so you'll get into less problems and live longer.

And this below sums up the whole thread...

A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE!

Thank you for this GREAT Piece Mr Amanee!

Spirits that make "SOME" Nigerian youths

Not Nigerian youths, stop generalising.
Some of us spent our teenage years in the sun and rain so that we could live well starting from our twenties.

All these mumu articles self, go and improve the economy so that youths can have better opportunities. Nigeria is not the capital of fraud. undecided

Countries with the biggest hackers and fraudsters don't make noise about it.
Did you hear about the 3billion dollar scam in China? By 6 Chinese? Recently.
Their government works quietly. Here we allow the west to play saint and demonize a whole country cause of some few scumbags. And our efcc wants to be part of ThE trend by releasing statements that they are also working when we know. They ain't doing shlt

Is it not this same country that fellow Nigerians including police see young successful people as fraudsters undecided

lol, not a bad write up.. however reality varies with life circumstances,

The O.P's reality is different from that of the guy in Maduguri IDP camp whose farmland and animals are facing desertification, drought and insurgency

Or the Hard working Guy in Nnewi who lost all his capital he got from serving his master for over a decade, due to bad goverment policy like sudden forex hike, overnight ban of importation, increase in cost of energy(petrol, diesel and NEPA), insecuirity like robery and kidnaping or fruadsters buying goods with fake bank alert

What of the Graduate in Oshogbo who took a 28% interest loan to buy a bike or trycycle with a payback clause of 18months daily payment without default, but ended up getting robbed or having accident after just 6 months.. without income and loan wolves hovering

Now to quickly correct you about what you wrote up there thinking Developed countries are easy... lol shocked untill you travel and leave in another mans land, a land where without papers you are condemned to either beg to survive or do the most degrading form of jobs just to have shelter in the coldest of winters, then you wouldnt understand why many Nigerians take to crime when in the "abroad"

This is why Civilised countries dont see prisons as punishment center but a correctional facility where they hope to train and rehabilitate criminals and first time offenders back to the society to be useful, rather than condemn them as greedy, lazy and demonic youth

You're right.

All these developed countries are the ones producing these hacking devices and softwares. They not only use it but also sell same. Making lots of profits. They don't make noise when they are getting African money/ resources. But scream when the trend shifts.

While I don't support yahoo stuffs but am pissed at their double standards. sad

Continue writing this, I don’t pity you na your children I pity. Leaders don get sense Dey have paved ways for their own children, make you Dey dere Dey write just because you feel oppressed by others who have made it through one dubious way or the other. I hope you leave a good legacy and platform for your children because by the Time they are old enough to start making a living and with the way Nigeria is collapsing daily, I hope they don’t regret you brought them to this world.

The moment Nigerians stop worshipping money, the better.
The rich is more accepted in the society so everybody wants to be rich by all means.

May God bless you, most people who criticize are just haters who think because they feel they live a sainty” life they should be awarded. As far as I am concerned we all have at a point in time enjoyed the corruption of this nation. Let’s not be quick to judging others rather we should lookninwards and tackle the causes from scratch.

what basic things has the federal government done to make an average man curb crime? things must be put in place for us to live a crime free life. life is about our leaders living and let's live also but apparently they want the best for themselves and their families alone.

I don't support rituals or robbery but I support guys using what they have (brains) to get what they want (money).

NB: crime can never be eradicated but reduced to the minimum if and only if the government put basic things in place.

These 5 Spirits is so True. May God help us. Read my signature.

This morning, I was going to read the bible to know what God wants me to say to my online families. I was hoping to hear bible verses or quotes, I heard the Holy Spirit say, Close it and then He said to me repeatedly ---
Take The Stage Lord And Have Your Way.
I'm Just A Vessel & Nothing More.
When You're Done, Please Take The Glory.
I'm Satisfied Just To See You Glorified.
That is someone's heart cry this morning. If you are that person, sing it over and over and over again to the Lord. Let that be your prayers all through today. Tell Him to have his way in your life.
When You're Done, Please Take The Glory.
I'm Satisfied, Just To See You Glorified.

To add to the list is Betting. It has destroyed the youth's creative and innovative thinking. The earlier it is controlled the better for the future generation. It has also caused the increased fast lane money syndrome in our society today.

Our leaders created the monster, and they are backing out. Create employment, give your citizens electricity, good roads and other basic amenities then see how the economy will boom.
The cost of sustaining small scale business is very expensive in Nigeria, people easily run out of capital because of the cost to sustain these businesses, ranging from estimated electricity bills to all kinds of revenues. After struggling for years, you see a friend who is making it big in scam, you would be tempted to join him and according to the saying "what the eyes have seen can not be unseen" quitting ll be very difficult by then.

Our leaders are not innovative, same as some youths, we all want to enjoy. Elders are venturing in to politics, so as youths into scam, if the government don't make these two things less lucrative and we stop worshipping money, I see a bigger problem in the nearest future.
Say no to scam, kidnapping and drugs. Say no to looting
