I did not see any straight red tackle there.
we see all these kind of tackles now, only that they are no longer much because teams no longer have many bakayokos and there are more pep guardiolas
Maybe your eyes are glued shut.

Any tackle from behind in today’s game in which you fail to get the ball na straight red.

You see a player kicking another player maliciously on the pitch and you say it isn’t a red card. If you be freshly graduated ref you no go see job because na all interview wey you do you go fail.

[s]Ode. You're celebrating polling booth award. Van Dijk deserved this award as much as Modric deserved it last year.

You're a troglodyte if you think Van Dijk would have achieved any recognition with David Lulz at CB and Kepa Aribisala in goal.[/s]
When Bayern won Ucl, na Akpeyi dey behind Boathand, wey make am no win this same polling booth award? You can spew rubbish with vigour sha.

Which player would you have left out had you been in Cruyff's shoes?
As a Laudrup fan it pains me to say i might have still done what Cruyff did.
4 world class players, all time greats really.

However at that time Stoichkov and Romário were 2 of the very best players in the world, and had a sweet thing going scoring goals.

It was really between Koeman and Laudrup.
Koeman’s ability on the ball as a ball playing CB meant he was very crucial in the way they played and there really was no like for like sub for him.

Laudrup’s creativity in midfield could be partially replaced by Spaniards like José Mari Bakero, Amor, and Begiristain. And those ones were also more hardworking ( but never as creative in a million years).

There was already cable in the early 90s.

There was football made in Germany on TV

There was Italian Serie A on TV

LTV 8 with Nwana Iwajoku and later Ayo Agbesanwa had a Saturday sports program. That’s were I watched the 1988 FA Cup between Liverpool and Fashanu’s Wimbledon on delayed transmission.

NTA 5 had Sports spectacular by Chuka Momoh where you might watch a Euro 84 or Euro 88 game on replay, or a grand slam tennis match (Chuka being a tennis guy), or a boxing bout between Hearns, Hagler Leonards etc.

Then there were a few video clubs then where you could rent taped league matches from the main leagues in Europe.
Goodness me!!!

For we the younger generation that didn't see landrup play but saw his highlights, pls will it be blasphemy to he was as good as Zidane or probably better?

Ribery as a forward won the award but if you ask 10 football fans who deserved it you could get many different answers. And therein lies the issue with polling booth awards. This is what I will keep pointing out to a daft mofo like you.

Van Dijk was infinitely fortunate to have guys like Allison covering his yansh at the back. We have seen him at Holland where ordinary Gnabry was turning his intestines and now since Allison injury Van Dijk cannot buy a clean sheet

Hmmm. He probably was technically as good as Zidane, maybe better. He was the best passer i ever saw, maybe the best ever.

Zidane though was a big game performer and a scene stealer. He usually rose to the occasion when the chips were down.

The way France collapsed when he was injured or retired and then resurrected when he came out of retirement gives you an idea of how much he influenced the outcome of matches.

In 2006 when he was about to retire he still had enough in his arsenal to embarrass the best talent that Spain, Brazil etc could offer.

So even if an argument can be made that Laudrup was better, Zidane was definitely greater.

I always warned you dolt, but you wouldn't listen when making reckless statements up and down.

A40:
I don't care what you call me. Just hit me up when Van Dijk wins a trophy and stop making noise in my mentions

Are you awarding best CB in November? Where is that done?
Are we still in November? Has he not won the most glamorous club trophy now?

He won UCL and became the best player in Europe, as a defender. If you have shame, your head is supposed to be buried under raumdeuter's armpit by now.

I think on Wednesday there is usually Rothmans of Pall Mall soccer show at 10 after network news. Normall the CL final will be like 7:45PM, So they usually show the recorded Champions League then

I think 1997 final was shown live on either DBN or Clapperboard. Those channels that you will have to be turning your antenna 720degrees to see any image
Even NTA used to show these Finals live before. I don't know how they just went to shyte. I do recall the first CL Final I watched live was Ajax vs Milan. Rijkaard's Final game

They showed pretty much almost all the games of USA 94 and Euro 96 live too.

Shut up you sodomite. Van Dijk has merely benefited from being surrounded by a world class goalkeeper and two of arguably the best full backs in World football.

He would never have improved Chelsea without the defensive talent available at Liverpool that has been underrated. Since Allison's injury Liverpool can't even keep a clean sheet

Football changes with different eras.

saying Zidane is overrated or average is very stupid n silly.

it's like judging the roles of GKs and defenders then to now. or the kind of number 9s used then to modern football. even tactics, patterns etc have changed.

Zidane was simple that good, one of the greatest in his era.

So I saw on Twitter that Eden Hazard has been named the Europa League player of the season for 2018/19.

I will still use these awards to troll, but they are an absolute joke. He scored 2 goals and had 1 assist. He played what, 2,3 games?

Olivier Giroud scored 11 goals, won the golden boot and contributed 5 assists.

UEFA and Papa Perez, well done. No wonder Modric won the Ballon D'or.

That's a transhumanistic notion. Cantona is a futurist.

Scientists, especially molecular biologists and geneticists, will achieve immortality sometime in the future.

They would find a way to stop ageing, sicknesses, death.

The current human body, though wondrous, has key flaws. Transhumanists are developing new bodies in the Project 2045, founded and funded by Russian billionaire Dmitry Itskov.

In the not-too-distant future, they are planning to transfer human consciousness (soul) into such advanced bodies to defeat death.

These people are trying to replicate the feats of advanced beings (gods) like Yahweh, Allah, Ra, Atum, and several others, who created our forefathers, scientifically, using genetics and advanced scientific (spiritual) techniques that only very few beings on this planet know.

The transhumanistic idea seems elitist to me and perilous.

Tampering with natural phenomena like death is evil and could spell doom for the human race.
